Beating Ray in 1980 when Ray beat him easily in the rematch does not make Duran top p4p ever. There has to be more. His lightweight reign? No better than Virgil Hill's light heavyweight reign. Beating Davey Moore and Barkley but losing to Benitez,Leonard,Hearns and Hagler? Duran is great, but this thing of putting fights in the top p4p ever list is easy to do ,but hard to prove they are warranted. I can see how Leoanrd would be there since he beat 4 ATG fighters in Benitez,Hearns,Duran and Hagler.

Virgil Hill ruled his division also and had 25 title defenses. Jones does not warrant top 10 p4p. This is the whole history of boxing right? How would Jones do that by handpicking his greatest opponents?

Moving up to welter weight and beating one of the best (top five) welters all time Leonard was the younger, stronger and faster (Duran was no slouch thou')fighter. One of the best wins ever. Who else has beaten a prime Leonard?.

Durans run at lightweight was good. He beat every one at that weight, I don't know how much more he could do at that weight. One loss to De Jesus (very good boxer), which was avenged twice, very good rein.

Duran did lose to Benitez,Leonard,Hearns and Hagler, but there is no shame in that. He did take on a prime Hagler, some thing that Leonard failed to do and did quite well.

I agree with you here. Jones was great, but after Toney and Hopkins he did not take enough risks to be in the top ten.

Leonard also was dumb enough to try to beat Duran fighting Duran's fight. Had he fought using his own slicker style there wouldn't have been any need for a rematch because Duran would have quit in the first fight like he did in the rematch. Also, don't use one overrated ATG to prop up another. What's Hagler mostly known for? Beating Hearns in a barnburner - a welterweight. Beating Duran in a competitive fight, another smaller guy. LOSING to SRL, a welterweight. How many welterweights can you name who could give Hopkins a close fight? Put the Duran who fought Hagler in the ring with Hard Nard and he gets KTFO, without a doubt.

Duran and Hagler = severely overrated. RJJ v. Hagler is a mismatch, RJJ does whatever he wants and probably clowns him.

Also when you're talking about RJJ's resume, who DIDN'T he fight in his weight class that was available to fight him? It took a while, but he cleaned out the Americans. DM and Joe C. wouldn't come here to fight him and why should the best fighter in the world be criticized for not chasing second tier guys around the world to fight them in their own backyard? It's on THEM to come to RJJ if they have something to prove.

The guys RJJ beat would look a lot better in retrospect if there wasn't one guy at the top who was so clearly two levels above everyone else, making them ALL look mediocre. He made B Hops and Toney look average too.
