I want the list. Show me a single list from a historian or writer (credible) who has Jones outside the top 100. Or stop saying this. And you know Bert Sugar doesn't agree with you. Jones is in his top 100, you barely have Jones in your top 200. That's worlds apart.
Ok, you are right, he has RJJ 88 far from the top 20 ATG many of the voters claim he is....so for all practical purposes 88 is in but barely, so you are right in a way.... The other writer tha comes to mind immidietly I can not spell his last name, italian last name and he does the boxing top 25 comments on ESPN, along with Bert Sugar, I want to say Acciola maybe....but him also doesn't have RJJ on his 100 ATG
What's the point of even arguing with someone like Orishaman? It's clear he either a) wants to stir some **** up because he doesn't like Roy b) is a complete moron when it comes to boxing knowledge. Roy is a top 30 ATG at least and I think as time passes he will rank higher. Ability wise and H2H pound for pound wise, he is one of the greatest fighters ever and that is a fact. BTW, what was the point of posting Bert Sugar's list? That list is completely biased just like he is and I think he's more of a good story teller than a good historical boxing analyst. And about Orishman's list.. .. Orishaman, can you please explain how you rank Penalosa higher than Roy?
I'm still waiting to see the rest of your list you only gave 78, where are the other 22 at, dude do you realize that you put Frankie Liles above RJJ. All you do is bash RJJ's resume yet have you even peaked at Liles resume. He's fought 1 fighter thats even worth talking about. What criteria do you use to put Liles in your top 100 but not Jones Jr. If you wanna get into resumes I'll sit here and pick your top 100 list apart
Liles was a SMW lineal champ for 4 yeas in the division it was not until Byron Mitchell KO in the 11th that he lost the lineage and the title....RJJ never had the lneage claim at any level....including SMW.... If I want to add 20 more, I am sure that I will include some of the lighter weight classes and MW boxers that I have leftout: 1. Galaxy, 2. Ambers, 3. Joey Archibald, 4. Panama Al Brown, 5. Manuel Ortiz, 6. Jimmy Carter, 7. Ruben Olivarez, 8. Paul Penders, 9. Graziano, 10. Dick Tiger, 11. Gene Fullner, 12. even PBF, 13. Duilio Loi, 14. I probably can argue for Floyd Patterson also....15. Joe Henry Louis 16. Ike Williams, 17. Sammy Angott.....18. Joe Brown, 19. Tod Morgan, 20. Azumah Nelson, 21. Fidel La Barba..... so that was not hard to complete it!!!!Hey guess what no RJJ....
if your saying Liles resume is more impressive than RJJ's then your in major denial. Hey by the way you accuse Jones of not fighting Eubank, Benn, DM, Mclellan but yet none of those names appear on Liles resume either. Your proving your hatred for Jones Jr. over and over. Also as a big PBF fan PBF can't carry Jones jock strap, Aaron Pryor's resume is LAUGHABLE (not denying his talent)... You have Qawi as top 3 greatest CW's, when he has about 10 fights at that weight and the only time he fought anybody worth mentioning again Holyfield beat his ass..
This is a dumb question, Asking is he top 20 would be a more challenging question. And I would put him in the top 20.
Gerry Penalosa for starters was something that RJJ never was, a lineal World Champion, with record of 41-3-2 (26 ko'S) he held the JRBantan weight for nearly 3 years on a weight class that most champions, and I mean World Champ not alphabet champs , last maybe 1 year....he defeated Kawashima, who also held the title for several years....so on the basis of my list by weight class it clearly showed me that he dominated his division why a Champ.....
You put too much weight on lineal titles. It used to mean something...it doesn't mean anything now in the time of multiple champions. Who is the best LHW ever? Ezzard Charles. He never held the LHW title.
I disagree, the issue with lineality is simple, the alphsbet soup titles have become the money maker card for boxers and not many want to put that on the lline for an unifide, World title holder that can keep the lineality of the weight title alive...
