Mayweather smokes Calzaghe P4P.

 

As of 2006 Mayweather has lacked the offensive arsenal of Calzaghe. His defence doesn't make up for inferior combinations and a lower workrate.

Mayweather at 135 is closer, but Calzaghe still has the edge due to his versatility.

 

No because PBF has had to reign in his offense due to moving up in weight fighting larger men. Calzaghe has not, and therefore hasn't shown the ability to beat larger men. If anything, PBF has shown more versatility by being able to adjust his gameplan.

 

No, in my twisted pro-Calzaghe definition of P4P 154/147 Mayweather is inferior to 135 Mayweather and perhaps outside the top 5 literal P4P fighters in the world.

 

Fortunately, we don't use systems that are pro any fighter. But I applaud your honesty.

It is important we use the strict definitions. You can possibly argue that Mayweather would top a list of the fighters with the most abundant abilities. But P4P, impossible!

 

Easily, without blinking I'd put him in the top 25 ATG P4P whether you like him perosnally or not - period. Maybe quite a bit higher depending on the day you ask me.......................

P4P means who would win at any weight IMO. PBF is that fighter currently. The fact that he has shown that he can adjust at different weights only helps his cause.

He has to be. I sincerley doubt any SANE boxing fan could pick 100 fighters who were better than Jones.

 

I don't rate democracy too much.

Sure it prevents Eric Crumble being P4P #1, but it also stopped Joe Calzaghe becoming #1. Simply democracy doesn't work. We just have to take the strict definition irregardless of what 99.99% of other people think.

 

That doesn't mean the inverse is true. We shouldn't take what the .01 % believe is true either.

You seem to be deciding an answer, then defining a system that supports your answer.
