Jones at lightheavy, his early fights I'd make him a favourite over Dwight, but post Tarver, his chin failed him.

So can we say there's a case for either?
Or do you see one of em beating the other easily with out doubt?

Let's stick to prime versions. If it goes to a decision it is Jones. If it is a stoppage, it is Dwight. I do not think it is clear cut either way.

I slightly favour Dwight by stoppage. The issue is the Jones chin.

Spinks beat Qawi with an amazing left jab and a perfect gameplan, and even then it wasn't an easy fight for Spinks. Jones doesn't really use the jab, and whilst he is faster than Spinks, I don't think he hits as hard as Spinks.

If it's a 12 rounder I think Jones could win a close decision after some rough moments, if its 15 rounds I favour Qawi.

Jones never met anyone in his prime at Light Heavyweight, who was a non stop fighting machine from the opening bell. Qawi for a 2 or 3 year period was an absolute wrecking machine, and it took a top 5 Light Heavyweight of all time in Spinks, to finally derail him after fighting a near flawless fight.

Could Roy do what Spinks did and control the distance with Qawi for 15 rounds? It's possible, it's also plausible that one miss step and Roy gets nailed and stopped late. I recall Spinks nailed Qawi with a big right hand early that caused him to be wary. Could Roy do that? I don't think he hits as hard as Spinks but he's much quicker. Definitely a fight I wouldn't bet on

    Certainly was. And he was.
Dwight puts him in the stress area.

15 rnds goes to Dwight. Hell, he might catch Jones under 12. Jones was slick and could punch, but Dwight had a chin of iron in his prime. Holyfield in the 1st fight was lucky at the end..

And Cruiserweight wasn't even Qawi's best weight when he fought Holyfield.

@Fergy, you’ve been putting together some really well thought out matchups and this is another…

I can see this going both ways. I don’t see Roy stopping Qawi but I do see Qawi stopping Roy… but then Roy was so fast he could keep Qawi guessing. He’d have to get his respect early though.

If it is prime version I don't believe Muhammad-Qawi has any chance. If not stopped he gets beaten up. If we are saying the Camden Buzzsaw in his prime against post-Tarver Roy Jones then I would have to go with Muhammad-Qawi by decision with a KO a possibility.

    Very tough fight for Roy.

A post Tarver version would have had zero chance.

    Look what Johnson did.

Roy’s last top level win was against Tarver, in their first fight in 2003.

Roy was damaged goods post Tarver, and extremely vulnerable.

From 2004 onwards, he was no longer a top level fighter.

All of his wins after the Tarver and Johnson fights were against B and C level opposition
