Is Roy with his outstanding athletic abilities able to confuse and bewilder Hagler over a 15 round bout? Or is Hagler with is solid chin and high pressure workrate able to wear Jones Jr. down enough to land solid punches in the later rounds and take a decision?

Roy isn't going 15 with a prime Hagler.

What does prime Jones have that Hearns did not?

Hagler was the type of fighter who would sacrifice some minor blows
to get that left hook, which can lead to a Tarver scenario_Or a bloody mess for Hagler

Roy does pack the inside fighting-pop back strategy to beat Hagler like Leonard did how ever.Hagler got the chin and stamina to endure Roy's best shots. But overall all I don't think Jones chin would be a factor here as he had a just a bit tad more head movement than Leonard.

Jones by SD or tko cuts

I disagree ... like him or loathe him, Roy is one of the very few fighters to have campaigned at MW that would give even a prime Hagler PLENTY to overcome in the ring.

Roy's physical talents of speed and power combined with his mentality make it a tough seek and destroy mission for Hagler to achieve. I honestly think that Roy has the hand and footspeed to offset Hagler's gameplan and beat him from the outside, the power to gain Hagler's respect to the point that Hagler doesn't just try to walk through him and the innate dislike of toe to toe true warrior combat to avoid prolonged inside and mid-range exchanges where Hagler's best chances lie.

A Hagler win, IMO, is far ... and I mean FAR from a foregone conclusion. Over 15 Rounds, I'm sure that Hagler can chase him down, especially if Roy finds himself with his back to the ropes, but Roy was quick enough of foot, with enough reflexes and athletic ability, as well as speed of hand to offset Hagler's movement,to play the matador to Hagler's sophisticated, well-skilled bull.

Roy, stylistcally, could even possibly upset a fighter like Monzon at the weight. Over 12 more then likely I mean.

He is hell to deal with for anyone in his prime. Especially at 160-168..At 175 I dont think he is quite as good H2H, actually probably not even near as good but at middle he could definitely upset some more accomplished fighters.

As for Hagler...A toss up but I would probably lean with Marvin having a little to much overall. Especially if we are talking over 15.

jones would win...he is so skillful and would frustrate hagler...

he would just run enroute to a victory in a boring fight.

I think Roy would win a decision with Hagler coming strong late but it not being enough.

I'll go with Roy. He's faster, bigger, stronger and substantially more powerful than the Leonard who defeated Hagler.

Jones's big problem here is that he would have been weight drained, just as he was against Hopkins. This will begin to tell in the later rounds, as it did against Hopkins. Over 15 rds it could be crucial.

When evaluating prime Hagler, we need to be looking at the late 70's, early 80's Hagler. The one who cut off the ring with underrated footwork and used a lot of hooks to corral opponents. Roy never went 15, so it's a bit unfair, but I don't think he beats Hagler over 15. Over 12, close fight, but I'll still lean toward Hagler. He just fought at a consistently higher pace and I think he eke out a decision.

I'm picking jones in this one UD. Like leonard but better at the weight. Jones would be a nightmare for Hagler - I think this would be a great fight. But I think Hagler would finsh cut and swollen up.

Over 12 I'd go with Roy

Over 15 I'd go with Hagler

    At middleweight?

-An equal or probably harder punch (not that this matters against Hagler)

    -A much better chin

    -Better stamina

-The smarts not to exchange with Hagler

-An undefeated record with a near-easy win over Hopkins, who is probably as great as Marvin

    -More footspeed

I think Jones would beat Hagler comfortably.
