I think this would be one of Roy's hardest lightheavyweight fights, if this fight happened in Roy's prime. I'd pick Roy in this fight but it would be a hard fought fight for Roy Jones cause Dawson would be the fastest lightheavyweight Roy ever fought and a bigger man at that.

    Roy probably shuts him out.

You think so? I can't see that happening. Roy had trouble with southpaws, remember the harding fight and Dawson is a lot better than Harding. I think he would win too, but he wouldn't shut him out.

Roy fought a lot of southpaws and generally didnt have that much of an issue with them. He didnt have an issue with the stance, its just a few of the southpaw's he fought were spoilers/boxers who made it difficult for him to dominate.

Make this thread in a few years I might change my mind, I might say Roy only wins 9 round to 3..Chad has had a pretty short career at lightheavy, lacking in quality opposition outside of Johnson.

True but he did dominate Adamek and Tarver. Tarver possesed style problems for Roy and Dawson has proven to be better than Tarver in their fight.

I would think Roy could overpower him, but we'll have to see more from Dawson before we can fully assess him. Right now he's a question mark IMO.

Roy does usually have a tendency to take a few rounds to figure southpaws out but he usually does figure them out, Tarver being the lone exception. But despite Dawsons stance and undoubted speed and athleticism he would get stopped by Jones.

Tarver gave Jones so many problems not only due to his size and southpaw style but because he was also patient and tried to counter Roy and forced the fight only when he was able to get Jones out of position or with his back to the ropes.

Dawson is more offensively minded allowing Jones to counter where he is in his element. Dawson would definatly be quick enough and active enough to give Jones a few problems but much like the first Griffin fight Jones would figure him out and hurt and then stop Dawson in about 9 rounds.

Roy Jones was a proven fighter, and Dawson is not. Jones would win a clear decision.

Lets see what Dawson goes on to do, but have to say Jones wide UD or Dawsons shakey whiskers let him down
