Tua was mesmerized by the boxing ability of the living statue Rahman. Jones is going to have a picnic snatching away the early and mid rounds with his footwork and handspeed.

The biggest threat of course is, Tuas penchant to rally late, at which he was often successful because his opponents gassed most of the time. I'm going to give Jones the benefit of doubt, and assume that he would not allow to be backed up against the ropes, and take a decision.

RJJ could win on points but I suspect Tua catches him and sparks him out.

Beating Ruiz is one thing but Tua was a far more dangerous fighter even though he lacked the boxing skills of even a John Ruiz. Tua's style would be harder for Roy to deal with. Ruiz was forced to fight a way he isn't used to, to be beaten to the punch, to be forced to chase. Tua was used to having chase it wasn't anything new to him.

As a heavyweight Jones was not very mobile. Add to that Jones was not very comfortable on the ropes.

At a certain point Tua catches and wins by brutal KO.

Jones looking great...having his way and pitching a shutout ....until he gets hit...head or body,...he would crumble suddenly. Jones would probably be in the hospital that night.

Sooner or later Tua traps Jones and lands hard, with immediate results.

What do you mean he wasn't mobile?

When Roy voluntarily backed himself on to the ropes, he was very comfortable, showing great in-fighting skills. But I doubt very much he'd have voluntarily backed himself on to the ropes against a HW, especially one with the power of Tua.

Hi Red! Jowcol here. You know my opinion. Jones (a great fighter) simply moved up and fought Ruiz, a fighter that was 'pan fed' for Roy. When I read the paper the next morning, I wasn't surprised. Quite simply yet another reason I've '****ed off' boxing for multiple reasons since the early
90's. Hey, let's all go see another UFC 'superbout' Not!

Let me put it this way: Tua needs to catch Jones in order to win. Jones needs to keep it in the center of the ring to win against a man with concrete feet. I'll go with latter because it's a "with the grain" scenario.

I think Tua would chin him if he caught him as often as Ruiz did.
