Prime Roy. Or anything like prime Roy. Would have toyed with Kostecki. This version of Roy is just as likely to get beat up atsch
this is a very sad thing to see, im hoping that roy finally hangs up the gloves after he gets beat again. so sad
This just shouldn't be happening, hopefully Kostecki is completely feather fisted, or it won't be a pretty sight. Unfortunately, young guys beating up shot fighters to make a name is the norm in boxing, it's been happening for years. We had Ali beat up Archie Moore, then Holmes beat up Ali, then Tyson beat up Holmes, then Danny williams beat up Tyson. It's just a horrible cycle. Roy in his prime beat up guys like Pazienza and Mccallum who were way past it and above their prime weights. Just a part of boxing unfortunately
The thing I dont understand is not why Roy wants to continue fighting, he cant except that its over, I get that. What I dont understand is why he picks high risk opponents that he has little to gain by beating, and fight them in there backyard on top of it. Not to mention, this guys style is all wrong for him. Kostecki is the type of guy he should not be fighting. He is better off fighting fellow old men Silvio Branco or Fragomeni, who are bigger names and more winnable fights. This Dawid guy is young, quick, heavy handed, and fighting in his hometown. Another horrible business decision by RJJ. I hope he wins as a fan of his, but I think he will get stopped once again.
I think he did, but you have to remember that his dad had a lot of influence over him for the first half of his career. I dont think RJJ himself has ever been afraid to fight anyone. It was after he started to distance himself from his father that he started to do what he wanted. I also think that he fought most everyone he could have at the time. I dont blame him for not fighting DM in his backyard
I don't know about that, the likes of Nigel Benn, Steve Collins, Mcclellan and Michael Nunn were desperate to fight him. He needed to fight DM to legitimise his LHW title reign (DM was the lineal champ, and had a claim to all of Roy's belts). Travelling to another fighters backyard and beating him, does huge things for a fighters legacy, but it's also risky. Look at the respect Bute is getting for travelling, risking his belt and undefeated record, to face Froch in his backyard
