RJJ had poor performances before this but I don't think he wa starting to decline. Mabye his physical attributes were slipping slightly but it was the drop down in weight after the Ruiz fight which really screwed him up. His mentality was often of safety first so he did have a few off performance fights

At 32 years old RJJ was probably already past his absolute best..........but he still looks good here. Very good. His excellent movement and footwork was still there.

Calzaghe vs Jones in 2001 would have been a blinder!

jones 2001 eats calzaghe. get ur head outa ur ass man. serious man fed up listening to prime for prime who wins. the first 2 rounds of the fight they had gives a way a little indication of how it would have panned out. roy pot shots him all night

u can even see the body language in the staredown ws different to current fights.

Roy was far more intense and all business, he just looks healthier

When u get KOd you can never be the same and unfortunatley for ROy it came at 35 so it was too late to rectify it.

Weight loss deffo had an issue with the decline with Age, i mean look at the dudes LEgs...
He can move...doesnt lay on the ropes superb ring genership

Roy looked great at times in that fight but lets face it Harmon wasnt much of an opponent.

guys WHAT DID CALZAGHE DO TO DESERVE PEOPLES THOUGHTS THAT HE COULD COMPETE WITH PRIME ROY?? beat a shot to pieces rjj but get dropped by him. 45 year old hopkins and get dropped by him?? in their primes he does not survive the knockdowns Period. kessler lokks a very good boxer but still has A LOT to prove. dont get me started on Lacy. im from Ireland an hour boat ride from JCC so its not as if i dont like him i do. But jones destroys him.

Read a story the other day of a guy who run in to Clinton Woods got chattin. ask the big JCC OR RJJ question Clinton amitted JCC would be well beaten by prime jones

Clinton Woods caused RJJ a few problems back in 2002.

    So Calzaghe in 2001..................

You can see he had already lost some of his athletic abilities and reflexes by that time.
