I'd say the speedy Roy has a great chance for a UD...Tiger had the punch, but can he possibly wear RJJ down? He tried twice with Emile Griffith.
Which weight? At mw I think Tiger´s bigger experience at the very topleads him winning a close UD or late TKO. At lhw I think Jones outboxes him.
Interesting matchup. I can envision Roy using his all-around speed to keep Tiger at a distance all night and win a decision; but at the same time, I can see another scenario in which Tiger uses his feints and technical/counterpunching ability to confuse and frustrate Jones, much as he did to Benvenuti (and what Montell Griffin did to Jones in their first fight). Tough to call.
i think jones would beat tiger at any weight.i feel tiger is a bit over-rated on this forum while its too soon to appreciate jones on a classic basis
In their prime, Jones easily outfoxes Tiger and widely outpoints him. Too fast, too many angles. In their Post-Prime, different story. Close fight as Tiger never really faded the way Jones has.
ID say Jones beats him at 160 or 175 to fast hed Tiger would win a few rounds but Jones wins a comfortable decision 146-139.
Tough fight to call........Tiger would have trouble with Jones´ speed for sure, he never faced anyone like that.........But on the other hand... Jones (in my opinion) never faced anyone so agressive, so good offensively........Hard to call ! Could go either way. But I pick prime Jones.....and I was very impressed with Tiger´s performance against Carter (watched that fight yesterday, very good).....
Jones would have beaten Tiger at 175 only if he followed the classic prescription of moving, jabbing and boxing. At 160 I think an "on" Tiger would have been too strong for Jones, who never had the chin or ruggedness of Giardello...no matter how well he could move or how fast he was.
