I think Roy would outspeed him and be careful not to engage in close or inside. Roy, in a clear but not exciting fight. Griffith would have his moments as his insane ring IQ would allow him to back Jones to the ropes and work at times, but I feel he is a bit too slow on the mark, and too small despite his strength, here to really make something of it.
If think if Jones were in kill mode he could stop Griffith. He certainly had the power, speed, and size to do so. But often times it took for Roy to dislike a guy to be in kill mode. You cant really dislike a guy as nice as Emile Griffith. Roy would be content to win a decision.
Amen to that. I'm reading his book, and the guy is so friendly it's hard to not be a fan of him on the spot, but then you factor in how tragic his life was and how brave and tough he was, and you have the most boring fan favourite ever.
Yeah, Emile Griffith was a junior middleweight and Roy Jones was a light heavyweight. At Emile's heaviest and Roy's lightest they are in the weight class without belonging in the same weight class. This is like matching Manny Pacquiao who started at minimum weight and rose up to welter weight against Guillermo Jones who started at welterweight and now fights at heavyweight. It's the ultimate unfair fight.
Give me RJJ here. He's the naturally bigger man, plus his speed and power. He may be able to pull a "Hurricane Carter" on Emile Griffith.
