Jones was a superior boxer by a fair amount.

I am a huge RJJ fan. Saw almost every one of his fights over a period of 15 years, and saw him fight live several times. As great as he was, Patterson is a terrible matchup for him. Bigger, stronger, almost as fast, and aggressive. Patterson would stop both Jones and Tarver at 175. Jones loses at Heavyweight, as well.

Jones Jr makes Patterson wish that he'd never signed that contract.

Anyone who thinks Patterson is as fast as Roy is truly mistaken

RJJ cruises to victory by decision with his style, speed and reflexes...

Not much of a fan of either. I'd take Patterson

Patterson was one of the top 3 fastest Heavyweight Champions in history. The difference in speed between Patterson and Jones at Light Heavy or above would hardly be dramatic. And Roy never faced a hard punching, skilled, busy, aggressive fighter like Patterson at those weights. And in spite of Patterson's Achilles' heel being his chin at Heavyweight, he survived and defeated far harder punchers than the ones that stopped Jones.
