Jones comes in the ring at say the low to mid 180s. He may not have a speed advantage over Patterson. This is a good fight.

It's a good fight until Jones gets clocked.

Roy and Floyd's dimensions aren't that dissimilar. Floyd despite being a HW isn't really bigger than Roy and I'm pretty certain Roy has a longer reach (or at least uses it like it's longer), Roy has a significant hand and footspeed advantage..........power I'd give to Floyd but again he'd have to land it against a "prime" Roy.

At his best I think Roy wins a decision because he's not gonna sell out trying to get a knockout unless he clips Floyd hard enough that he sees an opening. I can definitely see Roy not getting hit with a big one. Funny enough both of their best punches (IMO) is the leaping left hook (gazelle hook or whatever you wanna call it). Whoever wins that war wins the fight, and I think it would be Roy because his hook was more versatile

So, Jones up against a naturally bigger, harder hitting man who (at the weight in question here) is just as fast, and, importantly, who has a well proven record of being able to recover from being hurt?

    Jones ends up iced.

Under the conditions listed in the OP, this isn't prime Roy. This is LHW Roy. Hell, it might be the Roy who fought Tarver.

RJJ would NOT have a hand speed advantage over Patterson, who’s on the shortlist for fastest hands of anyone who ever climbed in a ring.

My position is that Roy was still prime at LHW. I believe his prime was SMW - LHW when he went up to HW.

I have stated previously I think Patterson is the fastest HW ever but vs. Roy? If you think Floyd Patterson had faster hands than Roy Jones, I don't even know where we go further in this discourse. If you wanna say Patterson "clobbers" him, I can see that scenario just as well as I could envision a Roy win, but faster? Nah

Then we will have to agree to disagree and move on. I think Patterson had faster hands and I don’t think this fight goes five rounds and it ends up with Jones unconscious and horizontal on the canvas. Patterson is way ahead of Jones’ skis.

Patterson got knocked down by plenty of guys who he beat, after getting back up. How about Jones?
