Too dangerous for jones. Sure he’s faster and way more skilled but Cooney had fast hands and a lot of reach so he’d catch Roy. Won’t take much for a KO

It's going to be WAY too hard for Roy to remain elusive and avoid that huge hook for 12 rounds. Cooney ain't no feather fisted jab and grab Ruiz, Cooney is a tall murderous puncher with a long reach and good body shots. Even if he can't clip Jones early, so long as Cooney keeps walking him down hitting the body, Jones will start to slow down and bring his hands down. And the very instant Cooney lands flush on Jones's head, the match is over...and he will land something big and clean at some point.

I would be shocked if this lasted more than 3 rounds to be honest. Jones might look cute with his foot work and upper body elusive maneuvers, but that won't last very long.

If Jones had a Michael Spinks style, I'd pick him. But I think Jones gets clipped here.

Im inclined to agree. Only thing that gives me even slight pause is Cooney’s power working against him - as in, Jones is so fearful of it, he fights ultra cautiously.

Jones would be in safety-first mode obviously, I think he outspeeds Cooney and wins a decision.

The Cooney of the Holmes fight smokes Jones. The alcoholic that showed up for spinks could lose.

Roy might get kayo'd with a shot to the liver or ribs. He doesn't have the frame to withstand those monster body shots.

I think Cooney catches Jones at least once and breaks that glass jaw of his.

Honestly, I could see it. Hopkins put De La Hoya out with a body shot, though some found it dubious. Nevertheless, this is a drastically bigger strength & size disparity.

Cooney by KO very early, Roy Jones Jr. made a mistake when he went to the higher division and Tarver punished that...

That's funny because when the ref stopped the fight Gerry was looking at him and there was only seconds left in the round. Gerry would have survived. My thought at the time was "would Spinks have been gassed the next round for punching all out for three minutes and would Cooney have been able to return the favor from the round before? "
