I'll start with Jack Johnson- Champions- Johnson Dempsey Tunney Schmeling Sharkey Braddock Louis Charles Walcott Marciano Patterson Johansson Patterson Terrell Ellis L. Spinks M. Spinks Others- Bivins Moore Machen Folley How does Roy Jones stand up to these men?
Whatever chin he had would be tested by a lot of these men. I think that's the real ultimate truth. And that is sort of the unknown.
The Ruiz performance might have sufficed against Braddock. Maybe he could beat Leon. I don't know. More than half of those champions knock him out, and it's a question of when not if.
So much depends upon how he fights and what he does. I can see that Jones is technically capable of keeping a step ahead of loads of these guys over 4 rounds, for example, but what about 15? Taking the version that fought Ruiz, it's very very hard to imagine him getting away with that type of fight over even 12 against many of them. If Jones fought a perfect fight he could beat an awful lot of these guys, but how many would I pick him to beat? Very few.
What are the rule-sets for this pre 20's fights? Do fighters get to harp over him. Does Johnson get to maul and wrestle him? I'll assume 15 rounds of more modernized rules. Champions- Johnson - 4/10 Jones Dempsey - 0/10 Jones Tunney - 6/10 Jones Schmeling - 6/10 Jones Sharkey - 5/10 Jones Braddock - 9/10 Jones Louis - 0/10 Jones Charles - 3/10 Jones Walcott - 4/10 Jones Marciano - 0/10 Jones Patterson - 2/10 Jones Johansson - 5/10 Jones Patterson - 3/10 Jones Terrell - 4/10 Jones Ellis - 8/10 Jones L.
