I think it is Seamus. And is she holding a book about existentialism? I do adore her work.

Luf, you call me "distorted mind", but my retort is to stick to teaching where you have expertise...Tit for tat sir...I may be "distorted " in your
biased eyes for expressing my opinion but it is your VIEW that would be laughed at by the VAST majority of boxing experts during Roy Jones prime at 168 lbs...NOT I...I am going to say this one more time so you in your hubris will get it...Roy Jones was in his prime when he beat James Toney
and Bernard Hopkins, and he weighed about 160 pounds. Two true worthy fighters they were...After that at 168 or so tell me what top lightheavyweights did he beat to put him in the mix with Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Harold Johnson, Bob Foster, Michael Spinks and Billy Conn to name a few ???The darn answer is NONE that would have a prayer with the guys I mention...NONE....
You constantly spout that Jones would be strong enough to fight a Marciano, Dempsey, Louis etc, because after all he weighed 193 pounds...Yes 3 times Roy fattened himself to 193 to fight Lebedev , Ruiz,
and a worthie named Max Alexander with mixed results...After fighting
Ruiz he then fought at 175 against Tarver...So does this make him a top heavyweight cause he pigged himself up to 193 3 times ? Hell No...
Roy Jones was terrific at 168 pounds and below, but he never met top lightheavies in his day to test his mettle, and yes he was kod by a Tarver, a Johnson, a Danny Green, and Lebedev, and you are going to put the prime 168 pound Roy in the ring with a Dempsey, Marciano, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield ? So brave of you !
P.S. Of course this ESB forum is about matching the BEST 185 pound fighters of different era's...But they all should be in their best weights that made them formidable...Roy Jones was not at his best fighting form at 185-93 and would be badly hurt by the true bigger fighting trim heavyweights above...
P.P.S. No I don't think in my "distorted mind", that it is a dig to match Dempsey against a smaller less rugged Roy Jones ANYMORE thanit is to think that the prime Jones enter a ring to fight a Marciano, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield etc...P4P Roy was in their league but he would stand very little chance against NATURALLY bigger and stronger bruisers...Good day
    Luf, from your distorted B...:hi:

I don't think I would like her with a brain.

Thankfully, I think it's just an act.

No, although he did hurt Ruiz who was that size. Dempsey isn't that big though and Willard/Firpo who I'd assume you're referencing weren't very good. Julius Long is over 7'0, if Jones knocked him out would it change your opinion of this match up?

    I was referencing another discussion.

Besides, I'm taking Jones, via safety first decision.

I'm not taking Jones to beat Marciano though. Or Bob Foster. Or Mike Spinks.

    We are in complete agreement.

He can play matador to Dempsey's bull for 10 rounds. Hell, Willie Meehan did it for 4 rounds.

Good to see. It happens every now and then (and more often than you may recall)

I must assume you've confused me with someone else.

I have yet to express my opinion on anything other than the validity of matching two 180+ men lauded as superstars in their prime.

I picked Jones to lose to Rocky and Louis.

My post was cordial. I looked beyond everything you said as I felt it applied not in this case, since I have picked not in this case.

Jones would counter Dempsey at will and ol Jack wouldn't know whats hitting him. Jones by late stoppage or decision.

No offense, but this is one of the worst lists I havce ever seen.

I am not sure that Jones even proved that he was the best fighter of that weight in his own era.
