Thought Tyson looked half-decent against Williams until the knee blew. I'd pick that version to probably beat Roy honestly.

This was a kick-ass thread, honestly. IB peaked in 2013.

Jones should have stayed at HW after he won a title, he could’ve easily been several fighters in the top 10 to 20 and then he could’ve retired as possibly the greatest fighter of all time.

This thread's about the chance he had to jump up several years before he fought Ruiz, though.

I like Roy but stealing a titls from one of the worst titlists to ever call themselves heavyweight champ isn't anywhere near as much to write home about as he thinks it is.

I'd expect even pretty faded versions of Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Ike, Golota and a host of others to separate Jones from his senses. He was no heavyweight and he knew it.

Can't remember if this was addressed during the original thread heyday, but a) in too much of a hurry to click through each page to check and b) worth reexamining now with a fresh batch of eyeballs & hunks of grey matter, even if so -

Would beating that Douglas then have been a better h2h win (leaving aside the "importance", and omitting the world title from the equation) than Ruiz when he did?

Was '98 Buster or '03 Quiet Man the better heavyweight?

Which was more of a threat to Jones? (not the same question)

Douglas more of a threat because of the power and flashes of ability. Ruiz probably better overall.

The Douglas that beat Tyson beats the Roy that beat Ruiz.

Buster had an excellent jab good footwork and power good combination punches .Jones was sensible to avoid Buster he would of been brutally KOed
