Toney was so good, he lost to Montell Griffin in his very next fight.

Are you completely and utterly out of your ****in mind?

I'm a huge fan of both but don't compare Toney (struggling to make weight BIGTIME) to an immortal who was never DOMINATED by anyone!

    In fact sorry......... Kill yourself!

Yeah and Roberto Duran lost to Kirkland Laing. Let's **** on his ashes too!

Toney was demotivated and ****ed up at that point in his career and you either know that or you're too ****in stupid to take seriously!

Toney benefitted a lot in popularity at the time by knocking out an ******* that everyone hated in Michael Nunn. But lets not forget that he was well behind on scorecards and needed a knockout to win that fight. In other words, Nunn had already outboxed Toney over 10 1/2 rounds by the time Roy faced him, and he lost to Griffin right after Roy faced him. Let's also not forget that, just barely three months earlier, Toney had been in a helluva row with Charles Williams. Toney was not, and is not, an ATG fighter. And he was no longer a true 168 pounder. He was killing himself to make that weight.

To your first statement. Apples and oranges. At his best, Duran so far exceeds Toney it's ridiculous. He lost to Laing 20 pounds above his prime weight class.

To your second, the whole point of saying what I said about Toney was to shed some light on who the guy actually was that Roy beat. So in effect, you're making my point for me.

I didn't hate Nunn and didn't realise that many people did? Back then Nunn was in his prime and supremely talented. He outboxed Toney who percevered, came on at the end, and sparked him. Do we discredit Toney because he was losing on points to an amazingly gifted southpaw? I don't so your point is flawed! He won by KO???

Toney was not always on top of his game but when the man was in shape he was nothing short of awesome. Montell Griffin? **** mate - he couldn't have cared less in those fights! Check Iran Barclay or his fights with McCallum. He won titles in three divisions and KO'd Holyfield at heavyweight - to me he makes ATG status!

I'm sure many agree with me!

This thread is not about James Toney. You're too confused to bother with any longer.

The Griffin fights were very close. Dont compare that to Roy winning at least 10 rounds against Toney

Duran won two world titles after that fight, dickhead! The reason it tears your Montell Griffin bull**** apart is because Duran was demotivated and lost to an inferior fighter (Laing) and so did Toney (to Griffin)!

It's just too honest for you to handle you ****in plank!

I had Toney winning both fights against Griffin.

BTW Griffin was no bum he was a good skillful fighter who had the style to give almost anybody around at the time fits including Roy Jones in their first fight.

It points to the fact that Toney was not as good as people, mostly Roy fans, try to make him out to be.

Can someone tell me how where Toney looked weight drained. He looked the same Toney as always. But like I said he was in with Roy! Roy made him look awful. Just like he did to everyone in his prime
