Jones also had right hand issues in this fight .But as far as Toney not looking sharp ? Watch some of the flush shots he hits Jones with in this fight .

Excellent point. People will try anything in order to discredit Jones' performance in that fight and it's ****ing ridiculous.

That Jones kills Calzaghe ..Jones couldn't get out of the way against Joe but he still managed to drop him ..A prime Jones would overwhelm wim imo ..

I'm suprised Toney & his devoted jocksniffers don't claim he beat Jones. Credit where credit is due.

James Toney is a tubby PED-munching disgrace. How does this mumbling meathead get a free pass every time?

Just look at how different James looks physically against Barkley. That was arguably his best performance. Look at Toney's speed and accuracy. That was not the Toney who fought Jones, even a blind fool can see that.

The accuracy is there because Barkley doesn't move around like Jones does. What is evident here is the latent energy that Toney has. However in the jones fight the lack of energy could be attributable to confusion, or simply missing a lot.

Not only does Barkely not move like Jones all he did was pretty much lean on James for most of the fight ..Hell Toney had plenty of time to catch his breath in that one ...Against Jones he just could not keep up the pace ..

Are you fk people blind or what?Just blind hatrism, I guess. :patsch

Loot at Toney' body, he looks a lot slimmer, more chiseled, healthier.
Then look at his speed.Toney is much faster against Barkley.Toney was slower and sluggish against Jones. He put on an unbelievable 19 pounds after the weigh in, he unoffcialy weighed in at 185 pounds.

It can not even be reasonably argued that the Toney against Barkley was not the same Toney than against Jones. You may argue that Jones may have dominate him anyway, now that is another point.

Notwithstanding the opponent, Toney's speed, the sharpness of his punches, and physical appearance are a lot better in the Barkley fight.

Just look at it :fire. What the fk is there to argue about? All this blind hatrism going on in the ESB Forum is just disgusting. You can't argue what is fk obvious.

Who cares if Toney was weight drained? He's a fighter, he's paid to fight, he chose to fight. He didn't have to sign up for the fight. He could have pulled out etc etc ETC

Weight is a bull**** excuse. Jones whooped him all the way to next week. End of story.

Toney being so damn weighdrained for the Roy Jones fight should not be used as an excuse. After all Toney has nobody but himself to blame for it, and it should not take any credit from this win, which is Roys best imo.

Also keep in mind Roy had an injured right hand and struggled himself to make the 168lbs limit.

HOWEVER, I can not understand how anyone can dispute the FACT that Toney was indeed severely weightdrained for that fight. I mean some of you guys mustn't have been around boxing back then, Toney killing himself to make weight was well documented, common knowledge. Looking at Toney that night makes clear that something wasn't right with him, if you can't see that you simply don't understand boxing. Again, this shouldn't take any credit away from Roy, but it still is what it is. Toney has been weightdrained in many fights, but it was particularly bad in the Roy Jones fight. He should never have stepped into the ring in that condition the first place.

That said, Roy would always have beaten Toney. Styles make fights, and Roy would have beaten him at MW, SMW, LHW and CW. Maybe not at HW.

The Toney that fought Barkley would have lost a close decision (115-113) against Jones, IMO. But I would not exclude the chance for Toney to pull a Michael Nunn and catch Jones and finish him. Toney at his best was so dangerous and unpredictable.

Be that as it may, you agree that the point is that you can't compare the Toney of the BArkley fight with the Toney of the Jones fight.

Get mad all you want but you fail to mention that the Barkely fight was almost a yr prior to Jones ..Before he fought Jones Toney fought 9 times prior 3 of those fights were at 168 limit one of which was in July of 94 yet for Jones he was weight drained ??

Prior he was pushing criuser , before that back to 168,then lt heavy before that super middle .

Gtfo !Is it Jones fault he couldn't keep his weight down ??

And lets not also forget Jones was coming up in weight ..Yet the sole focus is on James weight and why he looks so bad ??
