I have already conceded that most of the papers I have read gave the lead to Corbett.

I have also seen a fair few that gave the edge to Jeffries, or said that it was dead even.

Well if you are determined to believe that the earth is flat in the face of any evidence to the contrary then there is no sense arguing with you.

There is nothing that tells us that Jeffries is some 1 punch killer so why are some painting him as such? Why would one blow necessary by the end all for Jones? If it troubles Jones, Jones can get away anyway. How will he get finished. Or does Jeffries really hit that hard? His smaller opponents managed lasting quite a long time. So realistically, the answer is no.

It's not because Jeffries is such a one punch killer but he packs more punch than everybody Jones fought. Add to that Jones questionable chin and you have your anwer.

Jeffries probably did hit like a mules kick, if only based on the testimony of his opponents.

He was not a finishing puncher in the mould of Dempsey or Sullivan but more an atrition based puncher who broke his opponents with body punches. In some ways like a slower paced version of Joe Frazier.

Of course just because he somtimes took rounds to break his oponents dosn't mean that they wern't getting broken.

Yes, Jones got KOed by Tarvar and Johnson after draining back down to 175 after his fight against Ruiz at Heavyweight. So what? They were both perfectly timed shots. What makes Jones have such a shaky chin and not Patterson? I don't want to hear about the Green fight. Jones is shot, 40, and turned into it to get hit in the temple. He was also standing by the time of the stoppage.

But a flush shot might not KO Jones. A prime Roy Jones Jr. Not the old one that dropped muscle to make 175. Maybe Jeffries can starch him, but I don't see it happening. He got hit with quick short perfectly timed shots when he was KOed.

I guess a devils advocate would ask who were the biggest punchers Jones fought prior to the Tarver and Johnson fights.

What I am seeing is not so much Jeffries landing one and starching him, as Jeffries breaking him down with a series of body punches and taking his legs late in the fight.

Jones would have sucess for a while, but Jeffries would keep up the punishment to the body, and when Jones was weakened to the point that he could no longer run the end would come quickly.

Sorry but that talk of draining back to 175 is just a excuse for me. He was past it, I give you that. The Green fight proves nothing I agree.

And you think Jeffries wouldn't be able to do what lesser fighters did?

Aside from that I never said he would do so. I asked what would happen if the Punches Ruiz landed were landed by Jeffries instead of Ruiz. Jeffries fights totally different to Ruiz. He is more mobile, brings more pressure, gioes more to the body and throws more damaging shots. He would do to Jones what he has doen ot Corbett and Fitz: he would break him down with bodyshots and finish him later in the fight. I don see Jeffries Koing Jones in one or something like that.

Jeffries mobile? Not the one I know.

Anyway, Jeffries was a very big and strong man. But he was no where near as fast or as awkwardly fast as Tarver was. So no, I don't see the Jones getting caught and KOed, especially a prime one.
