I'll go with Young in this matchup. Better boxer, faster hands and is used to dealing with big HW's. Ruiz will do his best to make it a sloppy brawl but Young's skill will gain him the decision.

I personally don't think that the Jones of the Ruiz fight was prime, but since its the only one that we ever saw at heavyweight, then I guess we'll just have to work with it...

Anyway, I think I'll pick the Young of the Foreman bout to take a very close decision in probably a rather boring and uneventful fight.. Young was really troubling the hell out of a lot of great heavyweights in the mid to late 70's, and Jones by 2003, had started to lose a lot of his speed and natural gifts.. Neither man would have enough sting to even scratch the other... Young's reach awkward style, elusiveness and even youth at this stage is what wins this one... The one thing that Jones would have going for him, is that judges were often unimpressed by Young whereas many of them did tend to like Jones..

Will the fight be billed as "The Cure for Insomnia"?

You are commenting on the wrong fight.

But I do agree with your comments if a prime Jimmy Young fought a prime John Ruiz.

Young would handily beat Roy.Roy came up into the heavies at the right place and time.He try that move up crap in the late 70's-early 80's, he'd be licking his wounds.

15 rounds? Young finished strongly against Ali, and decked Foreman in the final round while working in stifling heat and humidity. Jimmy also worked the body extremely well, a fact often overlooked when his anemic knockout percentage is overemphasized. Young gets the decision.

Yep, Young was the greatest negative fighter I've ever heard of, yet come to think of it, in another thread, I have Ernie Terrell beating him by decision..maybe the two of them are the greatest negative fighters..yet, on topic..Young would steal the show from Jones..

Both Young-Lyle fights were feathers in Jimmy's cap, to be sure. The second of there fights was one of Jimmy's masterpieces, IMO.
