    Virgil Hill: A five-time, two-weight World Champion.

Had never been knocked down, or knocked out. Jones stopped him with a bodyshot.

Boxing is not for you, have you thought about golf instead?

    1995-2000?

Calzaghe only beat eubank in 1997 for the WBO and then defended it a few times till 2000. i think a much fairer playing ground would be just before jones moved up to heavyweight would be a fair example. Calzaghe beats Jones by a very close UD or Draw depending of course who the judges are (nationalism bull****)

Jones is one of the greatest boxers of all time
Calzaghe is one of the greatest boxers of all time

People can argue who would have won in their prime but lets face it looks like well never know now. so why dont we all agree that joe and roy are two of the best of our era and be done with it. 2 Greats who deserve equal respect.

It was 1995 on the initial posting, OP then edited the title to '1995-2000' when he realised how silly he was looking...

Well Calzaghe peaked his prime against Lacy which was in 2006

Jones peaked at the ruiz fight when he moved up to heavyweight in 2003

Calzaghe fought Byron Mitchell and Jones fought Clinton Woods

Thats when they should have fought.

I think personally Calzaghe would have been dropped even at that stage and would have been in trouble but jones being cocky going for the kill like mitchell did and gets hit with a good solid left from joe on the backfoot. whether it puts him down or not im not sure but it would have hurt him. Calzaghe also uses his speed to win a few rounds which means Jones wouldnt be able to showboat and vice versa. A close exciting fight but depending on where the fight takes place and who the judges are its hard to predict a result. but personally for me id go Calzaghe UD/SD or a Draw.

And Calzaghe is the first and only man to unify the super middle division and hold 2 ring titles simultaneously aswell as holding the WBO longer than anyone else in supermiddle at least and having over 20 successfull consecutive defenses and the undefeated record of 46-0 to boot.

Great boxer and a Great personallity to boot. If it wernt for him i dont think id start boxing now so i see him as an ATG. Not saying hes the greatest ever but then again roy jones isnt the greatest either but still the greatest fighters of my era and i give full credit to both of them.

Kinda like pacquiao hatton. the only fireworks in this fight are being set off by their trainers and i like both fighters equally thats why i aint betting on this fight even tho im leaning towards hatton but wont be suprised if pacman won. alls i know is that theres gonna be a KO one way or the other

look i know you love boxing and that but you dont know that much and this isnt an insult mate

    watch some Roy Jones Jr
    anaylse it
    watch some Calzaghe
    anaylse it
    forget your biases

you should get a more balanced view

you mention Roy going in for the kill, this is unlikly as he never really went in for the finish unless he knew it was there and there is no way hes getting careless to walk onto a hook thrown from China. Also Calzaghe as the better handspeed but not overrall speed.

Explain to me exactly how he wins the rounds because i can only see him winning rounds on workrate. I cant see him outboxing Jones
