Roy Jones jr vs Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran

Hagler is the only fair match-up, one I think is quite close. I'd personally go for Hagler.

 

Hearns was a force at 154 tops. Hagle, the biggest, is a small middleweight. Jones at his very smallest was a huge middleweight.

These are mismatches.

 

Unfortunately I agree....

I don't see SRL or Duran posing much of a threat.
Hearns, I can't give anything more than a remote punchers chance...
Hagler probably has the only legitimate shot, and although I rate him as a greater MW...I wouldn't pick him with any conviction. I would cheer for Hagler, but be surprised if he pulled it off.

Jones was 5'11"; not a spectacular middleweight height.

 

Jones would not knock out Hagler. I think Hearns has the best chance to beat Jones and he would beat Jones. The guys who troubled Hearns went after him. The guys who sat back and counterpunched usually were out-counterpunched. Hearns UD.

 

Does Jones get to put on 10 lbs. after the weigh-in?

 

It would appear like Jones could beat them all but I remember Buddy McGirt telling Tarver to punch when he punches and get there before his defense is back. I think Speed and execution could be a problem for Jones...and all 3 of these guy would take a chance to get to Jones chinny chin chin so we may see an exposure or 2

 

Just for clarification, at what weight would these bouts take place.

And can we assume all fighters are at prime ?



At HW ? Obviosly Jones wins them all.

Same for LHW. (No Hearns has NO chance here).

At SMW, again, Jones goes an easy 4-0-0.


The only weight where there's even a question would be MW.

Here, I don't give Duran more than a 5 % chance.

The other three range from 25 %-40 % chance.

 

Jones KO Duran
Jones KO Hearns.
Hagler KO Jones
Leonard KO Jones.

 

I can see him beating Duran on pts at mw. He may get to Tommy but i'd favour Tommy to KO Roy.

Hagler and Leonard would both KO him.

 

Does anyone see Jones being a good chance of pitching a shutout over Duran?

 

IDK about that. Even at middle Duran was pretty relentless so maybe not a shutout.

you guys don't know boxing. Hagler would beat Jones. Hearns would beat Jones. The guys who beat Hearns were guys who came to fight and moved forward. Hearns beat guys like Jones who counterpunched with speed. Duran would lose to Jones maybe even no mas if Jones dazzled him and yes Duran could be dazzled!!!!. Hagler would beat Jones by decision!!!! Just too much relentless and Ray would lose a decision to Jones!!!!!! But Hearns is the guy to win by knockout. No one beat Hearns with Jones mentality of fighting. Tommy would destroy him!
