Roy Jones jr vs Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran

you gotta be a young guy who came up in the Jones era!!!! Jones could not deal with a Hearns caliber of fighter who wanted to knock a guys head off!!!!!!!! Jones has the weight advantage but Hearns had a lot of experience in superfights which Jones never had or at least engaged in!!!!!! Jones ducked everyone yet he would stop Hearns? Yeah right!!! Counterpunches rarely landed on Hearns when he was moving forward. Barkley and Roldan guys like that gave Hearns tougher fights than Duran or Benitez who tried counterpunching him. Barkley threw when Hearns was throwing. Jones wouldn't . Too afraid of a counter.

I would have rated a Jones coming into the ring at about 170 with one of histories greatest combinations of speed, reflex and power at least some sort of chance, but i too stand enlightened.

I do think Hearns would have a punchers chance and from long range he'd bring much to the table Jones never encountered. Hearns had a very unique skillset. Inexperience would be Jones major worry in all these fights, but i still end up picking him over many greats.

 

it is ironic to say Jones would beat the greats since he always avoided even very good opponents in his career. He was a little like Mayweather. He avoided the top guys and yet still said he was great. They have skills and they were tops, but what they both lack is fighting everyone they could have . Too bad guys like Jones and Mayweather who had top skills, didn't have the mindset of a guy who does not have top skills but has top heart like Cotto. He would fight anyone.

 

Jones would beat them all without losing a round, Hearns maybe picks up a few rounds but as soon as Jones starts landing he's in big trouble

:nut Jones took on most of the best from 160-175 and was avoided himself, it's internet propaganda that he avoided the best. Cotto mainly fought Mayweather left overs for a great deal of his career, so Pacquaio is 1 Mayweather missed out on that Cotto fought though

Jones and Mayweather thought took control of their careers not letting managers abuse their money. For this reason it made promoters not keen to work with them

Jones TKO Duran somewhere in the midrounds. Jones combination of size, speed and power is just too much here. Duran might surprise him a few times but overall I don´t see El Cholo with a chance in here.
Hearns is a toss up. Hearns´ jab and power against Jones´ speed and power. Both are rather unproven at that weight but Hearns is more experienced and seasoned. I lean slightly towards Hearns but Jones simply may outspeed him and knock him out.
Hagler beats Jones. Hagler got too much experience, skill and power here. Jones would outspeed him and pile up rounds but in the end Hagler would get to him. Hagler by stoppage somewhere in the late midrounds.
Leonard is himself quite fast, with some pop, more skilled and experienced but here he faces a fighter who is faster, has more power and a size advantage. I don´t think Leonard can pull this off also he will win some rounds. Jones by close but clear decision.

 

Hearns at 154 or 160 has the best chance I feel.

Taller, longer arms, very quick hands, thumping punch and a beautfiful jab. He's the one guy who I don't think Jones woud be very good at pot-shotting and countering. Hearn's power would make Jones wary.
Tommy would have to box though...if he gets careless he could be caught and knocked out.

Marv would just have to put faith in his chin and make it an ugly, vicious streetfight. Otherwise, Jones' much faster hands will earn him a decision.

Leonard barely fought at the weight and was past it when he did, so it's so difficult to make a comparison.

Duran is just too small.

 

Very difficult to envisage. Marv was a piece of iron. Jones didn't really have that sort of brawler mentality. If it gets ugly and dirty, Hagler would get the upper hand, no question in my mind at all.

Prime Hagler beats Jones ad would have eventually caught up to him in Destruct and Destroy mode.

Duran would get stopped.

Leonard did not have the resume at 160 to make the think that he could beat Jones, but you never know. Leonard had the ability to steal rounds, and I could see him stealing the crowd from Jones and sneaking by.

Jones did not fight a lot of talented boxers. Hearns was all that and then some. Hearns was also very fast and an accurate punder. Jones would have to knock Hearns out to win, and no one could beat Hearns without taking a beating themselves. I don't know if Jones could take many shots from Hearns.
