Very good but invincible definitely not - not with that chin. He was in his prime when he fought Antonio Tarver, he was the huge favourite and P4P number 1. But in that first fight I had Tarver winning but he didn't get the result, which warranted the rematch. The second fight Tarver absolutely destroyed Jones in 2 rounds. Tarver just had his number, he was just stronger and better. Jones chin was well below average. We never got to find out since he was so elusive and mostly fighting weak opposition (he used to pick easy fights like Canelo is doing now) It does not bode well for a fight against Hagler.
I suggest you watch the Antonio Tarver fights again Tarver won all three fights. Usyk is definitely better than him and greater than him. And Inoue arguably. And Beterbiev & Bivol possibly. None of those have ever been knocked out in 2 rounds in their prime, or ever. Plus they are all clean athletes.
Coulda swore I had a post in this thread... Anyway, over 15 rounds and behind on the cards, Marvelous corners and ends him late in the fight. RJJ holds him off enough to win a legit decision over 12. ATGs both by any measure.
Jones has an abysmal Glass Jaw. It just takes one punch. Hagler was an Iron Chinned Warrior. Was willing to travel to fight. When was Jones ever willing to do such? Jones was a coddled Glass Jawed disgrace. Hagler chews him up and spits him out shattering that Glass Jaw into a million pieces.
Roy Jones Jr.... Love Hagler to death, but he would have had a huge issue trying to hit Roy. RJJ had the perfect combination of power, speed, IQ, & defense to be a problem for anyone in history at that weight.
The thing is Marvin's weakness was speed and the guy who would box him and not let him fight his fight , I think a Sugar Ray Leonard always had punching in mind and all around great style almost made to beat Hagler that a great style to beat Marvin and he studied Marvin with Roy I don't know or I would do well at first but 9 to 10th round Marvin might be getting to him. Tommy gave Marvin a wonderful fight and gave us a time to remember but he should have boxed but that really wasn't Tommy's fight I was almost meant to be how he felt Marvin and they were always meant to be linked together that way that was Tommy's weakness was to go for broken try to get the knockout so
