This is a good match up, it is said that Moorer was a good fighter at LHW but left the division because lack of competition.

    Who takes this fight?

Roy Jones chin lets him down in this fight.

Moorer by KO with Jones ahead on points.

The southpaw Del Valle was the first guy to drop Jones ( I believe ) so you have to think that Moorer might well be able to do the same. His power might be the difference of Jones being able to get up and hold until his head cleared, or staying down.

It is a misnomer to think Moorer left the 175 division because of 'lack of competition.' Moorer held the WBO title, which was the newest 'alphabet' organization at the time, and the weakest of four light heavyweight world titles to hold. There were some very good fighters in that class at the time who he never fought. Prince Charles Williams and Virgil Hill being at the head of that list. His biggest wins were against a somewhat faded Leslie Stewart, who provided a very stern test, and Frankie Swindell, who rocked him before being stopped. Moorer, however, could not drop a guy, Stewart, who had been felled several times by Don Lalonde and Virgil Hill before being stopped, before the Moorer fight, so the notion that Moorer had ATG lightheavyweight power seems to not be the case.

He left the division, I think, mainly because of problems making the weight.

Moorer would provide Jones with a stern test because of his physical strength, good punching power and decent hand speed. However, Moorer offered very little slickness. He would come straight in and Jones would utilize his vastly superior foot movement and slightly superior hand speed to outbox Michael for a clear UD. He'd have to be carefull not to get caught with any bombs, but I think he'd do it.

Roy would clearly be a favorite. Moorer didn't do enough at that weight to really earn elite regard. And he wasn't that hard to hit.

Jones could do it on points if he was careful one mistake and he's toast. By the way check out swindell fighting at heavyweight against wayne Llewellyn swindell looking like he'd trained in a cake shop all 5" 10 of him Llewellyn 6" 5 of muscle out boxed and KO by swindell unbelievable!

This is what I think. The guy can't do much more than he did at the weight. 22 fights, 22 stoppage wins.

I think Jones might even stop Moorer. It's not like Moorer was all that durable.

Then more power to his elbow, if he still found a way to stop guys in difficult fights. Fact is anyone who could hit that china chin could have Jones in trouble, and Moorer at 175 appears to have the power, and the southpaw stance would also help.
