The official scales are highly accurate and constantly re calibrated to ensure their accuracy. The fact that Team Jones claims they are light doesn't prove they are wrong and it should be pointed out that you are glossing over a few facts as well

-Mackie Shilstone told Hauser that Jones was 192 lbs before the official weigh in. It is only after Jones insisted that he was heavier that Shilstone changed his story claiming there was a fight at the official weigh in, which stopped Jones was being weighed accurately - which of course is nonsense.

Merkenson to the best of my knowledge never commentated on Jones's weight before the official weigh in

So it was really just Jones who claimed that the scales were light
As I said before the official scales are highly accurate and Jones had to strip before he stepped on the scales to ensure he had no weights in his pockets to appear heavier than he actually was
Boxing: Jones strikes out for folk-hero title
Not even close to being true.

If you look at the scale readings it's in stones not pounds. When he steps on the scales after he takes of his top he weighs in at 20 stone. 20 stone is 280 lbs not 201 lbs. If Jones was really 201 lbs then he would of
weighed 14 stones on the scales. Jones rigged the scales without knowing the correct conversion rate between stones and pounds

How can you overlook such a glaring mistake?

-The very fact that you think a set of hotel bathroom scales is more accurate then the official weigh in is really mind boggling

A couple of things I should point out:

-If the official scales were light then Ruiz should of also weighed heavier on the unofficial scales, but he weighted in lighter at 224lbs

-No argument can be put forth that can discredit the official weigh in.

-The most muscle the human body can gain naturally in a week is 1 lbs, with steroids its around 1.3-1.5 lbs
Jones camp was 6 weeks meaning the most he could of gained in that short period would of been 9 lbs of muscle at most, which is consistent with the official weigh in. You cannot put on 18 lbs of muscle in 6 weeks. It's just not possible

-Jones would not have had to strip to make sure he did not conceal any weights in his clothes, like he had to at the official weigh in. The fact that he was heavier under those circumstances speaks for itself

So we can ignore the official weigh in because:

-Jones stepped on a set of dubious bathroom scales
-Hauser saw the unofficial weigh in.

Alton Merkonson is not a reliable source when it comes to Jones. He has shown on more than one occasion that he is quite happy to lie on Jones's behalf.

You notice that Jones makes no mention of cutting muscle so either

1: He did not keep the muscle on as he later on claims and was just cutting fat

    or

2: Cutting muscle is no different to him than cutting fat

Either way he didnt struggle to cut muscle in camp. It's his actions during the last week of the camp that caused him to struggle to make the weight

And what about the direct quote from Hausers article, on what basis are you ignoring it?
So Jones remembers his diet and the duration of his camp, but cannot be relied upon to tell us his actual weight for the fight?
You have clearly got me confused with someone else. I have never claimed that Jones was 199 lbs. It is impossible for a fighter to put on 18 lbs of muscle in 6 weeks.

1: The Unofficial HBO scales are not more reliable then the Official scales. In fact its the exact opposite. Lampley would state that during round 3 of the Jones-Harmon fight

2: Jones had to take off all of his clothes to make sure he had no concealed weights in his pockets during the official weigh in

3: The bathroom scales were rigged to make Jones appear heavier than he actually was, but he rigged them wrong. The fact that he did that should tell you he was not 201 lbs

4: It is biologically impossible for Jones to have got up to 199 lbs in a 6 week camp.

So you are left with two scenarios:

1: Jones put weights in his pockets to appear heavier on the unofficial scales

    or

2: Jones is able to put on muscle at 3 x the rate of a normal human being

Which do you think is the most likely scenario?
