    Toney caught Nunn @ d rite time , Jones cot toney @ d rite time & still didn't manage 2 hurt him . Nunn > Jones @ h2h terms

none of what you posted proves your point for nunn beating jones. jones beats nunn. nunn had great speed but jones was a complete fighter at 168.

A drained Nunn outboxed a fit Toney better than a top shape Roid did against a liquid shocked Toney , until he got caught late in the fite.
A year or 2 earlier Nunn would have decisioned Toney and if Toney was fit against Jones , he would have caught him and stopped him like he did with the drained Nunn . Nunn had speed and size , Jones just speed.

    Jones TKO late.

Nunn threw a lot of slapping style shots, left himself open, long punches, not a man who showed supreme coordination like Jones did. The difference between elite p4p for a moment in time and elite p4p all time in my estimation.

Look Jones beat Toney, Nunn did not. Nunn did outbox Toney for the first 7 rounds or so, but from the 8th until Nunn got knocked out it was all Toney. Jones dominated Toney and got a knockdown. :good

Nunn was ahead at the time of the stoppage.....just.

James was still landing plenty of counter rights and slipping loads of Nunns flashy but as someone said before kind of sloppy flurries, all fight.

Roy shut Toney out and floored and buzzed him on numerous occasions.

Jones was on another (higher) level to Nunn, as talented as he was.

Jones was only too good for Jorge Vaca , Vinny Pazienza and a 41 years old Mike McCallum of all of the good fighters that he beat.

These people obvously forgot everything about that fight and know nothing about James' eating disorder that just took over him near that time.

Jones was never a complete fighter at any weight. He was absolute athletic marvel, but he was never technically sound. He did catch Toney at a good time, but that was still a very impressive win.
But Jones did manage to miss all those killer punchers that fought in his era.
Nunn wasn't one of those killers, but he was the best boxer of the whole bunch.

It's a difficult match to pick. Nunn was great. He had outstanding athleticism and outstanding fundamentals.
Jones was also great. He had out-of-this-world athleticism and one-punch KO power.
It would've been great, and should have happened.

Jones constantly left himself open. He practically ignored proper defense his whole career, and relied on his other-wordly reflexes to get him out of harms way.
Nunn himself had elite-level hand speed and was a supreme boxer. He could've been just the guy knock Roy off his pedestal.
Although I still think I would lean towards Roy winning a close decision.

I don't really remember Toney-Nunn the same way you do. I remember Toney pulling off a 12th-round KO that he absolutely had to have to win that fight.

And Jones does not, and never did, have the chin Toney has. Who knows if Jones could've kept coming the way Toney did if he got caught with some of the shots Toney got caught with.

Nunn won the first 7 rounds. Then from the 8th Toney won the rest. In the 11th Toney scored a knockdown then eventually another one which the referee stopped the fight.

Say the fight went the full 12 rounds. So if Nunn won the first 7 rounds, Toney won the next 4 rounds, with 2 knockdowns in the 11th, then went on to win the 12th round. The scorecard would be for me 113-113 DRAW.

I always wanted Roy to fight Nunn, since I knew Nunn had a better chance to beat Roy than most people. Nunn was quicker than most guys Roy fought. It would be a close fight. It might be similar to the Virgil Hill fight where Jones changes tactics a little and goes to the body. I pick Roy by close decision.

I knew that couldn't be right.
Scores at the time of stoppage were 97-93, 99-91 and 98-92. All for Nunn.
Nunn had given Toney a clinic til he got dropped.
