Montell didn't beat ****. Roy was disqualified, huge difference.

Of course styles matter. I agree with most that Prime Nunn would be a tought style for Roy, being a southpaw, his reach, his height, his speed.Roy only peaked at 168 in my opinion. His best opponent was Hopkins and Roy looked preatty ordinary in that fight.Prime Nunn is better than that version Bernard.

At 160, I see the Nunn-Roy fight as a pretty even matchup. At 168, Roy definetely beats him

He won the fight fair and square, and was winning the fight clearly.

Great post .I actually wanted to go through a list in my head to prove BJ Saunders wouldnt be top 30..but felt i may be attacked by a BJ fan..so thought 20 ought to cover it safely!....the fact after considering your very helpful list theres another guy not even on it Im convinced would put a serious beatdown on BJS says it all.....Matthew Hilton...he was so talented...Dewitt v Hilton is one of ny favourite fights.....like you say guys like dangerous don Lee and dennis milton i see doing a nunber on Billy

    Knew I forgot someone!

I always thought of Matthew as a junior-middle. Good friend of Tyson. Terrific left hook. Top boy

That’s fine. But your earlier post basically said that Nunn would have won just because he had a better chin.

There was nothing wrong with Roy’s chin. He just got knocked out by hard hitting LHW’s and CW’s because he no longer had the defence to avoid getting hit flush. He was way past his prime.

Although Nunn didn’t get knocked out like Roy, it’s only because he never gave his opponents the opportunity. And that has to be respected. But I’m sure the shots that Roy took from Tarver, Lebedev and Enzo would also have knocked out Nunn had they have landed. I think those shots would have knocked most guys out.

Roy didn’t look ordinary against Hopkins, he won it much wider than the official scores and it was a very technical match up.

He won the fight on a technicality.

How are you going to beat someone whilst lying on the floor?

    Also, he wasn’t the fight.

If Roy had been a bit more patient, he’d have knocked him out legitimately.

Anyone in attendance of one of the Jones-Liles fight in 88 saw Jones go down heavily and get up at 8 on very unsteady feet, basically holding on. That was with headgear and pillows.

Griffin would've stood right up and carried on outfeinting, outboxing and outscoring Roy. Nothing suggests otherwise.

    Ha!

    What?

How did he take a knee in the first place?

    Having a rest was he?

    SMH.

Roy was on the verge of knocking him out.

    Go and watch the fight.

    Liles was a good puncher.

I’d have to loved to have seen them fight in the pros.

Roy was only 19 back then.

I did not say that. I was merely respponding to somebody who said Roy knocks him out,. My point was that it would be more likely Roy gets knocked out because of his chin. But I see this fight going the distance. An even matchup.

Griffin would've been stopped shortly after had the fight continued and Montell knew it.
