I always wondered why I never saw this posted...Ali was technically a LHW before he turned pro. Jones probably hits harder at that weight with more comfort in that division, but Ali was just as evasively mobile if not probably moreso, and could still bang plenty. I think Ali's chin would carry him through and allow him to stop RJJ in the later rounds if he doesnt get worn down early by lightning bombs that steal his edge, which probably wouldn't happen due to his attitude of perseverance. Jones lands powerful quick shots, but isn't exactly a volume puncher; afterthey trade fast hard blows as they shuffle in and out, Ali amps it up and plants himself to wear Jones down late after a competitive fight.
Ali is way too big for roy , in his prime similar speed , skill , much better chin , ali all the way , question though could ali make 175 , prob not imo
12. Fighters prepped for the rounds they were to fight, its not like we'd put 20 rounds for the real old school fighters when doing fantasy matchups against more modern fighters.. heres some random clips of a lighter ali [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvyUa6hmAnE[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH86ZDrI9e8[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj28chS7vm4[/ame]
I would pick Ali, but to those saying Ali was faster on his feet, similar hand speed and quickness etc. are ******ed. Maybe more active but not close in pure speed. Ali was fast as hell and he was a heavy, but his all-time speed gets overrated way too often on here. People always putting him up there with guys like Jones, Taylor and so on.
Well Jones did lose one or two rounds to Ruiz, so your heavyweight ATG list must be like this: 1. Jones 2. Ruiz 3. Ali atsch
Jones doesn't register because sadly he didn't stay for long at heavyweight. Ali isn't in my top #20.
