I'd venture to say that Jones has power as well, just not 1 punch KO power. He has a high KO ratio throughout his whole career, which dropped only in the later half of his career. I would also not count him out in terms of skills. Chin and heart however are a clear edge for Ali
Ali never fought as a pro at LHW but I think Ali was a better HW than Roy was a LHW so either p4p or h2h, its Muhammad Ali for me.
The amateur Ali was a slappy, sloppy kid with little technical prowess and lacking the maturity that made him great. Jones has to be favoured. Silly thread.
what a joke of a thread muhammad ali had - a great chin - had heart - had a plan B when the going got tough - had a clean track record with regards to PED's roy jones had none of this. his name doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as muhammad ali :deal
but his weight has to be considered too, he was a heavyweight and on top of that he was considered a big heavyweight for the era. 6' 3'', very long reach and around 210-215. So its not like he was on the small end of the heavyweights for the time, he was a big heavyweight and he was fast as hell to boot. When comparing all heavyweights ever, he is pretty much the fastest all time, no one else compares other than young tyson.
yeah this question really only makes sense if asked in a p4p sense. because RJJ was a seasoned pro by the time he was 175 and Ali, though a gold medalist was still a teenager. Jones easily beats a teenage Ali.
