Jones got his Hvyweight title via the John Ruiz route. Wonder what would have happened if he had "defended" against "Old Foreman" as his first defense of his title?
If it's 54 y.o. Foreman coming from retirement in 2003, the Jones wins. If you're talking about Foreman 1991, I'd pick Big George by brutal one-punch KO.
Even when old, George could cut the ring off pretty well. He'd catch Roy at some point. There's no way Roy could survive the physicality of Foreman.
Are you out of your mind? The only people foreman really didn't want anything to do with were guys with a great chin. Roy Jones even at the time wasn't considered to have an Iron jaw. I'd put money down that Foreman knocks him down with the first solid jab he lands, much less power punches. Roy would need to be perfect, litteraly unhittable in order to take the W.
Foreman would have been in his mid fifties by then, coming out of a six year retirement. I suspect Jones would win every round and cruise to decision win. That's not overrating Jones, it's common sense. Jones wasn't a great heavyweight, but even he should be able to handle a 54 year old man. Put him in with a prime Foreman, or even the old version that fought in the 90's, and it's a different story.
I think Jones would look good until he got caught. edit: 54 y/o Foreman gets massacred. Let's be serious. 1991 Foreman would probably catch him and end him sooner or later, although a Jones UD was still possible.
Definitely this forum is a complete bunch of ****. Foreman kill jones with a jab. And i am not using the word "kill" like one expression
Even heroes grow old, Foreman is no exception. No one in this thread, no one, has picked Jones to beat a prime Foreman or the Foreman that was active in the 90s. We are talking about if Foreman came back in 2003, 54 years old, retired for six years. You really think that man would have killed the Jones that fought Ruiz? Let me ask you this then, if Foreman came back today, 67 years old, would he still be able to beat some of the hw contenders in your opinion?
