It's like saying Louis's loss to Rocky erased all doubts there also.

Rocky and Dempsey were 185 fighters (give or take) matching them with modern LHW's is perfectly natural considering the similarities in fight night weight. Much more natural than matching them with SHW fighter's anyways.

In his prime Roy rarely lost a round let alone found himself in trouble. Losing after such dramatic weight loss to opponents who aren't famed for power nor any better than those he faced earlier in his career, has no bearing on it whatsoever imo.

Just watch him vs Ruiz and then Tarver, you would never guess the two were months apart, he looks to have aged a decade.

Agreed, I'm not dumb enough to exclude any chance of Rocky winning but I do think that it'd be down to Jones. If RJJ keeps his focus for all twelve, stays disciplined and dictates the fight (Like he did with everybody in his prime, even Toney) then he wins. If he falls into bad habbits and gives Marciano chances then he pays.

I'd be very intrested to read a technical break down that anyone can produce, to explain how Marciano would dictate the fight to Jones, as opposed to vice versa.

Marciano got knocked down by what might as well have been a jab from Archie Moore. What would have happened if that had been a lead left hook or right hand from Jones? See we too can play this game. Whenever Jones doesn't look superhuman, he's been "exposed." The hell outta here.

I agree. round 12 v Ruiz and round 12 v Tarver say it all.

You seem to be assuming that Marciano wasnt capable of making adjustments, or was simply a one dimentional Fighter. That Jones would dazzle him with his Super Human Athleticism, blinding Foot and Hand speed, and that Marciano simply would stand in front of him befuddled and bemused not knowing what to do. Marciano was a thinking Man. Well capable of making adjustments in the Ring, and much better defensively then given credit for. Add to that he had one of Boxings best Minds in his corner, Charlie Goldman, who prepared Marciano to fight any number of Men, possessing a myriad of styles. Marciano would be well prepared for Jones and anything he threw at him. Which amounts to a crushing victory for Marciano.

Rocky couldn't knock out a former middleweight over 15 rounds. I guess he's been exposed.

Seriously, if guys like Walcott and Moore could hurt and drop Marciano, you can bet your ass that Jones could do it too. Where is this whole myth of Marciano's supposed invincibility even from? You would think he was taking punches from Bowe and Lewis instead of (modern day) light heavies and cruisers, many of them past their primes.

the basis of these arguments seem to be:

1)take a horrible, past prime jones (tarver 2, johnson)
2)pit him against a prime marciano (lastarza)
3)negate all of jones stylistic and physical advantages (speed of hand and foot, far better combinations, etc.)
4)assume marciano is able to impose his will against an opponent he never faced, nor ever faced a remote facimile of
5)assume against marciano has the greatest gameplan of all time and jones is a ****ing moron who will lay on the ropes as he did against an opponent like bryan brannon or when his legs were shot
6)if anyone argues, point out that jones was either: too small, knocked out, never faced rocky marciano and thus, would automatically lose regardless of counterpoint

    rinse and repeat

Rocky Marciano getting his head snapped back by 4, 5 lightning fast left hooks from Roy.
Damn , I would love to see that.

But in all honesty i wouldn't want to be Roy fighting someone incredibly ferocious like Marciano. The Fear that the fight can be instantly over for me within a blink of an eye is too overwhelming.

If Ted Lowry could beat Marcinao and almost knock him out then the way faster PED using Jones Jr would beat Marciano and stopped him. I would say prime Jones Jr by KO in 6 rounds or less.

There is footage of Moore one punch KOing a 210 pound heavyweight with 35 pounds on him. Moore has more KOs than any fighter in history, over half of those were against heavyweights.

Where is the footage of Jones that demonstrates this kind of power?
