    I know Joe was sometimes a slow starter, but even if he had the worst start imaginable, I think Roy would need to work a lot harder keeping Frazier off of him than he did Ruiz. I assume, at least, that Roy would have a similar approach. Roy was effective that night for sure, but based on a few rounds I watched recently, Ruiz at times had the right idea (which contradicted my memory of the action). Not that Ruiz had much success, he was mostly missing outright, being deflected, or only partially landing when Roy rolled correctly. But, he was finding the range at times, but he was not particularly accurate. Frazier was faster of foot and hand than Ruiz, punched significantly harder, and had a far better idea of how to go about finding his range. He also provided a more elusive target.

    And while I do not think Roy mentally "broke" Ruiz, I think he had him greatly discouraged and unsure of himself throughout much of the fight. I do not believe Roy succeeds in foxing his way to that type of mental advantage against Frazier. In fairness though, you've put Roy in quite the hypothetical bind here.

    Jones tries to keep fighters off by jabbing instead of feinting, very dangerous v someone like Frazier who dealt with a longer jab like Ali`s in their first fight by bobbing under it and countering, also Jones had a silly habit of lying on the ropes after getting caught with his gloves up instead of tying up the way Ali clinched in their first rematch was how Ali beat him, Joe would destroy Jones`s high guard the way he batterred Ali in the first few rounds in Manilla when he covered up on the ropes. Frazier could have beat J.Ruiz and Jones in the same night.

    Poor roy.. Every cute boxer like Ezzard Charles,jones,Ellis,spinks etc all them would be the breakfast for Joe.. Cats running from a pitbull.

    Smokin' Joe in his prime stubs out Roy in brutal fashion at some stage of the fight.

    RJJ was the most physically gifted fighter I’ve seen but he was a smallish Lt Heavy at best.

    Frazier wasn’t physically gifted like Roy but he was a relentless, aggressive, determined animal (and bloody talented in his own right).

    A bad match up for Roy. If the deadly Bob Foster got walked over by Joe then Roy would be run over. An unfair matchup for Roy. Aside from Tyson I’m hard pressed to come up with a worse match up for Jones prime for prime and head to head.

    Joe is known as a slow starter but even his slow start will be enough to cut through Jones.
