Roy Jones jr vs Sonny Liston at HW?

why do you always have to 'shattering KO' etc in your ******ed matchups? RJJ gets stopped by any top 10 type HW, because he's NOT A HEAVYWEIGHT. You going to judge Pacquiao by how he does against Tommy Hearns or Felix Trinidad?

Roy by decision, fairly easily. Roy was faster than Ali. The Roy Jones that fought Ruiz was faster and better defensively than any form of Ali. Ruiz barely even managed to hit Jones at all during the whole fight.

If Ali could beat Liston fairly easily, I think Roy Jones Jr would smoke Liston. Liston won a lot of fights on intimidation rather than skill. Intimidation wouldn't work on Roy Jones Jr, and the speed and defense would make for an easy 12 - 15 round decision. I won't say Roy wins by KO but he very well could do that too if he beats on Liston enough.

 

Liston isn't even a top 100 heavyweight. Top 10 yeah, but Liston is not.
You saw what Ali did to him and Ali was a small heavyweight like Jones. Jones wasn't a heavyweight, but he could beat Liston due to the style and the fact that Liston was slow as hell and from my memory flatfooted.

How would Liston even be able to land a clean punch on a prime Roy Jones Jr? To all of you who say he gets the KO, how would he land?

 

Liston is way overrated H2H. He's great because for his time he was a force, but as far as skills go, he wasn't as skilled as Foreman, or Tyson, or Lewis, if he did beat Roy Jones Jr I fail to see how he would be quick enough to land a punch and on Roy's chin. He didn't have that kind of speed or accuracy.

 

Ali wasnt a small HW for the time.

He was 6'3 and 210 at the time.

Jones was 5'10 and under 200...and a former MW

 

Liston KO 1 in the first minute, if Patterson couldnt handle it, Neither could Roy.

And Ali and Jones heights are common knowledge to anyone who ever followed boxing!

Liston by KO with a Jab in the 1st round. Jones Chin is way worse than Patterson's was.

 

Roy jones hardest combinations wouldent even faze Liston . Roy is 1 of the greatest of all time , No doubt about it . He could very well be knocked out by Sonnys Jab alone . People forget how brutal of a fighter Liston was .
