    Okay.

    We’ll leave it.

    Your argument is weak.

Pressure alone wouldn’t have been enough for someone who was so hittable.

    Brilliant.

Speaking of weak, we did this literally weeks ago.

You make them sound completely overmatched.

Coz he was a puncher. Jones' resume is very very void of Punchers. Or at least that's the narrative that's peddled, its almost like he never fought Tarver.

Not all of the guys that you mentioned, but the ones I focused on, sure.

A come forward and very hittable guy of 5’8 with a small reach, wouldn’t have done anything with a prime Roy Jones.

Can you honestly envisage Carmine Basilio beating Roy?

Basilio was tough and had grit.

    I know.

I used to watch the classic fights on TV with Bert Sugar.

I don’t want to disrespect these guys.

Carmen Basilio was a great fighter.

I watched his fights with Robinson.

He was fast and skilful and he could take a punch. He was a warrior. And yes, he beat Ray. But he was small and hittable.

A 5’6 guy with a small reach who was hittable, wasn’t going to beat a 170 plus pound prime version of Roy Jones.

No I don't. Boxing wasn't a level playing field in this era just because a few got their shot. Plenty of black boxers should of got title shots that did not. Jimmy Bivins, Elmer Ray, Burley, Holman Williams, Lloyd Marshall, Bert Lytell, Cocoa Kid, Eddie Booke, Chase never got title shots and they were all at least as good as Lamotta and for the most part better

That aside, my other major issue with Lamotta is that he was a hometown fighter benefiting from hometown decisions. His gift decision prior to his title shot against Villemain was so bad the boxing commision looked into it and considered overturning it. Villemain would then beat him again in the rematch.

The Ring considered the Yarosz fight a gift decision. And he lost against Dauthuille the year prior to his title shot. He also got dominated by Loyd Marshall.

The poster Springs Toledo who used to post here revealed Sugar Ray Robinson signed to fight Bert Lytell who lost a split decision to Lamotta. He pulled out of the fight when he heard it was a robbery.

Yet despite all these losses and gift decisions La Motta gets a title shot over all those boxers. He's a fraud

    That's cause they are.
Roy beats them all on the same night.

Would you have ever picked Kostya Tszyu to knock out Zab Judah?

Poor example. Tyszu was a long term champion, Judah was a relatively untested prospect who got up way too soon because he was green

Jones Jr was tested 1000 times more than Judah

    Not Joey Maxim, though.
