Toney never liked that, McCallum was proving that but to Toney's credit he still did well enough to beat his man, great fighters win even when the styles match up is against them sometimes. McCallum doesn't do back foot boxing as well as Toney can though. The only way Toney is winning that for me is if it is true that fighters from that era are too primitive, that's not usually my standpoint.

That was what I was thinking. Toney's feet were not great. I'm a huge fan of Toney's and he's one of my top five favorites to watch, just as far as having an aesthetically pleasing style to me and I never thought much of his feet. ...He's got one of those thick fungussed up toenails and-no, but, seriously, you know.

i'd like to see Jones vs. Schmeling, Walcott, Baer, Langford, and a couple others. but honestly i don't see him beating a lot of atg hws.

Personally, I think Schmeling, Walcott and Langford beat him, hell, Langford might kill him, but Jones has avery, very good chance aginst Baer with his mobility and speed.

a SMW Jones has the off chance to outspeed Langford for 12. Think of him as a faster Jeannette with less durability but way more overall ability.

If Langford lands a serious punch Jones is finished, not becasue he necessarily would be out but because Langford is perhaps the best finisher of all time. If he hurts Jones he finishes him. And I´m pretty sure he will.

head to head, i actually give Jones a far better chance against most heavies than anyone else on the board. In fact, while i dont think he would beat say, a Muhammed Ali, i do think that he causes ali more problems (and has a better chance) than many other fighters. I think there are quite a few far better fighters, who Jones would surprise and upset. I am not necessarilly sure whether they would all necessarilly be smaller heavyweights either.

i haven't been on these boards in a while but i just had to comment because boliermaker has a logical assessment of jones. i have a feeling only a few on these boards ever saw jones fight.

btw, can you imagine if ray robinson had put both hands behind his back and then ko'ed an opponent. we'd have to listen to burt sugar and all the other so call historians talk about how great that was. since it's jones, it's rarely brought up.
