I love hearns but this would be a battle of whos chin could hold up longer, I believe tommy would have been hit easier than roy who had cat reflexes so my vote is roy ko/tko
Jones, Hearns was just too chinny and Jones had pretty good power in both hands. It goes 5 rounds, if that
It all depends on Roy Jones. If Jones gets on his bike and runs, he could pot-shot his way to an easy 12 round decision. If he comes to fight he might get knocked out. I think Jones wins, but Tommy definitely has a shot.
General Forum, please get this through your heads. TOMMY HEARNS WAS NOT A GREAT FIGHTER ABOVE 154LBS. He's a H2H possible GOAT at 147 and 154, NOT above. Roy Jones knocks him out.
Despite the fact that he won World titles at 160, 168 and 175. A past it Virgil Hill (coming off a loss to DM) is one of Roy's best win at 175. Hearns beat a prime undefeated Virgil Hill. Can you explain how Roy Jones would beat him? People saying that Tommy is too fragile, seem to forget that he took several flush, hard shots from a big puncher in Hagler before going down. Hearns has a 4 inch reach advantage, great hand speed, and one of the best jabs of all time. Anyone who thinks Jones can 'potshot his way to an easy UD' has clearly not watched much of Thomas Hearns. Hearns was a phenomenal boxer, especially on the outside, in his prime he had great foot speed, and hand speed. Go and watch his fight against James Shuler, to see how good Hearns was as a MW. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woWSl5PBVAs[/ame] Those using Roldan and Barkley against Hearns are ignoring that styles make fights. Jones certainly wouldn't soak up the kind of punishment Barkley did, nor did he fight with the kind of relentless pressure that Roldan fought with. Jones would find himself on the end of Tommy's jab, and in constant danger of being caught with that right hand. If Tommy is pressing the action, I see him getting the KO. Jones best chance is a KO, but I'm not sure he'd be willing (or able) to take the punishment necessary to get to Tommy's chin. I'm favouring Hearns in this match-up.
I'm far from his biggest fan, but I've gone to the effort of explaining my reasoning in this match-up.
I see Hearns jab also troubling RJJ but the main thing that will get Hearns KTFO is his aggressiveness. If he comes in after RJJ, he will eventually expose himself.
