Jones wouldn't beat Morrison but Toney would.

 

You’re talking to Roy’s biggest fan on the forum.

It’s not hindsight bias.

It’s appreciating the styles of the fighters in question.

Tommy would have been more powerful and far more offensive minded.

Roy would have been facing a much tougher challenge in Tommy Morrison.

You do this on every thread.

You debate on boxrec stats.

You debate on numbers and the size of the opponents etc.

Forget the stats, and concentrate on the styles.

I’m always having to remind you that just 8 months after Floyd put in a masterclass against Canelo, that he struggled with Marcos Maidana.

At the time, Holyfield was way past his prime. He was going life and death with guys like Byrd and Toney who moved up from lower weight classes like Jones.

Essentially this. What made Ruiz effective against other heavies was a liability against Jones. His low output, slow hands and slow feet were not that much of a liability when he could potshot and tie up the other guy. But Jones would be the guy hitting first and Jones would be the guy dictating where the fight went against Ruiz.

Ruiz would be more effective against Morrison than RJJ because he had a decent chin and would be able to smother Tommy. Conversely Tommy would have a stylistically much better matchup against RJJ because of how the strengths and weaknesses match up.

Tommy is a much more dangerous proposition for Jones than Ruiz. That's not a knock on RJJ. RJJ should never have been at heavy in the first place if we are honest with ourselves.

I guess some people aren't able to see how styles make fights.

 

I feel Lomachenko can easily hit as hard as a heavyweight. Moreover he's much much more skilled. Those guys are in trouble.

 

My original question required a simple yes or no.

 

My diversion however runs parallel to your train of thought and is moreover much more entertaining.

 

I didn't present a train of thought. I asked a question to understand your logic. You claimed Yuri must have more power than Jones simply because he was a HW.

If you don't even want to bother explaining your position just say so.
