I should have worded it differently. I can picture Roy taking over late, he would just have to be extremely cautious in the first half of this fight.

 

Jones Jr would be taken to the hospital in a speeding ambulance after the referee completes his count.

Relative to Roy’s natural weight it was an excellent achievement. Ruiz was simply a very low bar in absolute terms in the HW div.

Even though Ruiz was limited in ability, I wanted to see Roy deal with the style that Ruiz was known for.

Instead, we had Ruiz inexplicably trying to “box” Roy for a few rds and then when Ruiz tried to revert to his tried and tested style - the challenge that Roy himself was supposed to overcome - we have the ref treating Jones like some delicate crystal that Ruiz wasn’t allowed to get too close to lest he rough him up too much.

Suffice to say, Ruiz almost spoiled the whole show when he clearly wobbled Jones with a clubbing right hand in rd 1. After that, there was next to no offence or resistance offered by the aptly named Quiet Man. Effectively dropped tools.

When duly qualified, Roy’s victory over Ruiz doesn’t extrapolate into success anywhere else in the HW div.

Against Foreman.. Well he would have to do it again here and be aggressive, yet careful since he did not have a great chin.

Toney took shots off Vander that Jones couldn`t have taken and Roy got tagged a number of time v Ruiz, Vander`s offense was better v Toney than Ruiz`s was v Jones.

 

I will type this and then block you because you are clearly beneath me. Michael Bentt is a better heavyweight than Roy Jones Jr. You know why? Because Bentt was actually a heavyweight. Also you do realize Antonio Tarver knocked Jones Jr out and Glenn Johnson put him to sleep and these guys were way smaller than Tommy Morrison. Blocked.

 

Lol Roy Jones Jr had one fight at heavyweight and now he is beating a heavyweight who only fought at heavyweight and only lost to heavyweights? Yeah that makes a lot of sense but looking at your previous comments I am not shock by what you type.

 

Ruiz might have beaten Bent, he was awful v Hide who was a small heavyweight that started his career at cruiser.
