Actually Toney competed against big heavyweights in Peter and Rahman. Roy did not. The issue with Roy in this weight class is his chin. Neither one was a real heavyweight, you are right about that

How exactly would Toney make Vitali look bad. Vitali is 9 inches taller, has 8 inches extra reach, has a cast iron jaw and high workrate with excellent stamina and he's hardly unskilled. Toney would be lucky to see the fight out. Vitali isn't an unskilled fat plodder.

So Vitali ducked Toney yet signed up to defend the Ukraine against Russia. James Toney is more feared than Vladimir Putin.

Toney fighting those guys mean nothing to his chances against Jones.

Peter and Rahman are the exact opposite of Jones fighting style Jones isn't going to be coming towards looking to slug it out with Toney he's going to be hitting and moving.

Vitali would hit a lot of air. Just like when he fought Gomez and Johnson. Vitali does not look good against slick boxers

you are entitled to your opinion and Jones the best pound for pound fighter at that time, would have been the betting fighter favourite for sure

Kevin Johnson? The guy Vitali beat by a shutdown on two judges cards and 11 rounds to one on the third? Johnson who was 5 inches taller than Toney and had a whopping 10 more inches of reach? Vitali can't have looked two bad considering he shut him out.

Had Gomez won more than 1 round before being stopped? Gomez had even more physical advantages over Toney than Johnson did.

Chalk and cheese to put it mildly. Vitali would keep punching against Toney. It's a bad match for Toney.

Yeah, I do not agree with you there. I do also note that you tend to overstate your points. Johnson was a journey man, please no comparison to Toney. Size means little when you do not have the skills. Vitali took some time to get on track against Gomez and lost a few rounds in the process in my opinion. The same also against Byrd another slickster and excellent boxer who might be most comparable in terms of skills and slickness to Toney. While Vitali was ahead, it was actually a closer fight in the mind of many people than the cards suggested.

You were the one that used Johnson and Gomez when claiming Vitali does not look good against slick boxers not me. Overstating one's point would be trying to decoy using guys that aren't in the same stratosphere size wise to someone as pertinent.

Your scoring is consistently the worst I've ever seen in here and that's saying something. You could give the first to Gomez and that's pretty much it. Of course your scoring always reflects the way you want to your argument to go. Toney's lack of size would most certainly mean something against Vitali.

Byrd's a southpaw and was a fixture of the heavyweight top 3 for years. He's a better heavyweight than Toney and a different proposition.

Vitali would beat Toney extremely wide or even stop him late.

Well scorecards are always going to be subjective. Who says Byrd was better than Toney? When you look at common opponents, I thought Toney beat Holyfield more convincingly. I think Toney at hsi best at heavy was slightly better than Byrd. Chris was a good fighter but has become a bit overrated, he struggled and arguabyl lost tothe likes of Qquendo, 40 year old Golota, Williamson.

Vitali would likely win a UD against Toney (like 8-4 rounds). he would not look good at all.
