I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. I can't remember Watts but I remember Hamsho and Barkley being pretty dangerous when on top form.
Yes, he probably beats them three but not the ones THE BLADE 2 mentioned, he get's outclassed by them frankly.
If you look at Canelo's last six opponents (post-Golovkin 2) you might not find more than 1 or 2 you'd give much of a chance against Iran Barkley.
Canelo is looking very strong right now. But Barkley was very strong, he could go toe to toe with anyone, even some heavyweights, so I certainly can't see Canelo having an advantage there at all.
In that case I would go with a Barkley points win. I see Barkley outhustling the more skilled Canelo in a fight that is fought at close quarters. Canelo more precise and versatile but not busy enough. Barkley's heart, determination, chin, body work and busy workrate would probably carry him to a hard fought close points win. That is if this fight is judged fairly, which very well not be the case.
He'd counter the hell out of Barkley. Hamsho's awkward but Canelo's pinpoint accuracy and hard punching would make their mark. Boogaloo wouldn't last 7 IMO. That's my take anyway.
They are rather serious customers tho. One could be great and not be able to beat basically any of them.
Fair enough. I guess I'm going to be harder to convince; mainly on account of not being all that impressed by his opposition and the matches themselves.
Fascinating match. He'd be more dangerous matchup wise than Barks and Hamsho. Canelo certainly takes a shot tho and his skills are excellent. Tommy would have to keep him busy all fight and make no mistakes. I'd favor Canelo to get to him at some junction while trailing quite a bit on points.
He's good and that was fairly obvious from the get-go, some years back. He's one of the best of his generation, but not necessarily the best around, at the moment. Out of interest, how do you think Canelo opponents like Saunders, Yildirim, Smith, Fielding and even the version of Kovalev Canelo faced, would do against Barkley? I would fancy Hamsho to topple Jacobs and take Golovkin (2018) on points. Watts, at his best, could outbox both, in my opinion.
