While Roy is always going to struggle beating another great fighter like Calzaghe, he's still good enough that I could see him defeating Dawson for a title at LHW.

Lacy while shot, just gave Jermain Taylor a hell of a fight - the same Jermain Taylor that gave Pavlik a hell of a fight, etc.

I for one think Roy could find himself wearing the LHW title strap if he wanted it and if he could convince Dawson into fighting him.

40yrs old and still the fastest hands in the LHW division.

I'm with you man, Jones would give Dawson hell.

I'm not sure how committed he is as of right now. But he is definitely not shot. He still has some good hand speed still moves well. Should be interesting to see what he chooses to do with his career.

Oh, no no. Dawson is all wrong for Jones. Too fast and too many punches.

Roy is fine against B- fighters, at the elite level he'll get smashed again.

Lacy and Dawson are different in every way possible Not a good match up for RRJ although he proved me wrong tonight against Lacy.

I thought that his performance was dominant tonight but Dawson is not Lacy! He has the reach, youth, and power to give Jones all that he could handle. Also, I wasn't crazy about the way Jones was trying to humiliate Lacy tonight. Showboating is one thing but come on.

Roy's legs are gone, that's his major problem -- his reflexes are still pretty good, but he has no mobility anymore and needs to use the ropes for 80% of the round. Although I will say mentally he seemed so confident tonight. I've always considered him haunted by the ghosts of his past.

good god people Lacy is beyond shot. Calzaghe ended his career years ago.

Why is Jones still having to handpick opponents?

    Answer?

Because if he fought anyone with a pulse he would get KOed and he knows that.

Roy look great in his last 2 fights with Sheika and tonight by destroying decline Lacy but people Dawson is on to a another Level in which he is 20 times better then a shot in the dark Lacy. Lets not get carry away here. Sure Jones look great but it was against a decline Lacy. Lets wait until Jones face a fighter that isn't on a decline and is actually a real good fighter.

Dawson has a questionable chin, cannot deal with angles and would struggle immensely with reading Roy Jones Jr - the fact that RJJ has faster hands than him would screw him up.

And Rico - yeah, Jones Jr doesn't fight people with pulses huh? That's why he just tried against Calzaghe and will more than likely look to another big fight after the one against Danny Green.

I think his best bet is Green in Australia. They will go ape **** for him over there, they'll fill a rugby or cricket stadium and he will take home about ten million dollars. I think it's a perfect fight for both fighters at this time, and I hope HBO takes the fight so I don't have to watch this poor production quality anymore.

I think Dawson beats RJJ at this point, RJJ doesn't move at all anymore, and Dawson is a lot harder and more accurate puncher than Lacy was at 175.

I would love to see RJJ fight Dawson. If it happens, I have Roy by KO/TKO (at least for now).

At some point in the fight, Jones will land hard on Dawson. I don't think Chad could handle it.

Dawson is younger, but Roy still has speed and he can drop a bomb when he wants to. I think Dawson wouldn't deal with that well.

I agree with PP, also: RJJ wasn't nearly as shot as people wanted to make him out to be. It's just that Calz made him look toasted. Two reasons for that: 1) Joe is that good; 2) Nasty cut that his corner totally mismanaged (first cut of RJJ's career, too).

Exactly Paulfv - Dawson doesn't have the ability to land hard on Jones Jr, he is a slick southpaw but he's no Calzaghe, he doesn't move in the same angles and relies mostly on having much quicker handspeed.

Give Roy Jones Jr the shot and I see him starching Dawson.

Talk about revisionist history - Lacy did NOT give Taylor a "hell of a fight". He averaged 6 landed punches a round and had an abysmal 17% connect rate for the fight.

Taylor may not have put on as dominant a performance as Roy but he's never been the showman Roy was either.

Not to mention that Roy's body isn't what's the most shot... it's his mind, especially when faced with adversity. Lacy presented him with nothing resembling adversity from the moment this fight was signed.
