Roy Jones Jr - what I've been saying all along

Lets not get carried away. Lacy was perfect for a guy like RJJ.

RJJ is obviously still a solid fighter but hes not an elite fighter and if he ran into the likes of Dawson, Cloud, Johnson, Kessler and all the rest of the elite SMW's and LHW's Roy would be in massive trouble.

Just ignore the bluster. Roy is the last person most of these people want Dawson to face. It's like how PBF fans would try to dismiss Margarito, because they were scared Antonio would destroy Floyd.

 

Jones days are over. He can not beat any of the elite fighters anymore and I loved Jones as a fighter. He should rematch Hopkins and retire. Jones would annihilate Dawson 8 years ago, but right now, Jones can't beat Tarver, Johnson or Dawson, and you would never hear me say who Jones couldn't beat. Jones would beat all 3 easily in is prime though...

 

His handspeed seems to only exist when he is fighting plodding fighters at LHW.

 

Jeff Lacy was washed up and so is Roy.

 

Please. Dawson would take that fight, and anyone who thought Margarito would destroy Floyd doesn't know boxing, and would rather just talk shite aboutFloyd. Money talks. Jones has a slim chance to beat Dawson, but imo Jones is too old for Dawson.

Roy is right in Chad's age range. And Johnson didn't seem too old to give Dawson a tough fight.

Calzaghe made RJJ look like a god damn child. RJJ was, WAS a GREAT FIGHTER, now hes a solid fighter who looks like a GREAT fighter against handpicked opponents.

 

I'm not saying Calzaghe don't hit hard but if he was throwing Punches hard he would have stop a shot Jones imo.

 

roy shouldn't be targetin dawson yet. he should beat an actual top 10 lhw before considering or being considered for that level of fight. stopping sheika and lacy (and apparently dominating him worse than taylor) and doing OK vs calzaghe for 2/3 of a fight are positive signs but sheika had been inactive for 2 plus years and lacy was barely a top 20 smw at the time. i don't mind rjj fighting on as it's his choice but i'd like to see him with an actual contender to really see where he stands. i don't know what a fight with green means other than money and would like to see him trying for either a lhw or smw title,

 

Those guys are all fresher than Roy, and I'm never scared of seeing a fighter I like lose... I've been on both sides of the coin. Dawson might fight Roy after Johnson. Dawson beat two men who ko'd Roy, so why would Dawson be scared, or not fight Roy. Roy's earned the right to fight Dawson even if he hasn't beaten a top guy in a couple of years... He was a great champion in his prime. Side note: Why on earth would anyone think Floyd is scared of ANY fighter is beyond me. Thanks for the avy comment lol...

You guys are crazy to think RJJ would be able to compete with the elite fighters.

 

Dawson would give Jones a beatting at this point. In fact I would go so far as to say that Dawson would have presented a prime Jones some issues in the ring. I think that a Prime Jones would win but it would be a tough fight. This version of Jones would have little to no chance of beating Dawson.
