Is anyone else genuinely scared for the mans health? Brutal knockouts and one sided drubbings at age 40 take even more of a toll than if you're in your physical prime. I know people will say "Ohh, there's journeymen that get stopped every month" and that's true and I respect that but this guy is getting hammered cleanly by top level, hard hitting, experienced fighters. What's people's opinion on just why he carries on? I know for the most part it's 'the spotlight and the rush' or 'he needs money' and the love of the sport but nowadays it's not even just himself he's hurting, he's hurting the people he loves as well as his fans. You saw the looks on people's faces when Lebedev dropped him and for a moment I was genuinely scared that he wouldn't wake up. Is there anything we could do to try and get him to stop? (how about a strongly worded letter? ;) ) I'm not really a believer in stopping a man from doing his job or what he wants but I wouldn't argue if he wasn't licensed anywhere again (although that will never happen)

But seriously though, if his career was made into a movie and he carries on, I fear it'll have an even more tragic ending than anyone really wants to think about. Could him carrying on be to do with the people around him? There were interviews a few months ago with someone close to him still blowing smoke up his arse and telling him he'd be the greatest again. I think he's close with J-Prince as well which is only bad news for him and I wouldn't be shocked at all if him still fighting was in part down to him.

This thread doesn't really have much of a point btw, I just needed a little ramble/rant because that fight sickened me

    I'm worried about him.

I think his trainer should now tell him ''Roy if you continue i will no longer train you'' but he probably won't...

I don't even like Journeymen unless there up to a decent standard and competitive. But Roy's now mixing in world class company with hard punchers with a worsening punch resistance.

I remember as a kid...thinking ''no one can beat RJJ...He's to good!''...

Do you think what's happening now would seem not quite as bad/tragic if he wasn't 'Superman' in his prime?

I kind of wanna kidnap him and tie him up in a basement or something so he can't fight anymore... (no homo)

Yeah it's the decline mate. It's so hard watching a man who was damn well near unbeatable being beaten by **** like Green...

I know what you mean even though that sounds dodgy even with no homo written :lol:. Nah for real...wish we could all sit him down and tell him as fans that enoughs enough. But suppose he'd just show us the tax bill he's got...

Yep, but no one apart from a few will speak out about it.

Only once something happens (god forbid) will so so many people come out crying and criticising, seeing who to pin the blame on.

Honestly, whoever's behind RJJ won't give a ****, though. They all know they're getting a slice of the pie as long as he's fighting, so they won't give a ****ing toss what happens to this guy.

    Discusting.

Maybe with Roy it's always been a case of "Yes I can." In his prime he could seemingly do everything. Can I land a 10 punch combo? "Yes I can" Can I slip 20 shots in a row? "Yes I can" That mentality has been embedded into him, it's stuck with him & knows no different. He's stubborn and now it's a case of "Can I be the greatest again? Yes I can!!" No you can't, Roy. You really, really can't.

Is he skint? I know its not been publicised ala Holy or anything, but how's he doing financially? He seems like a pretty clever guy, and he must have made a **** load in his prime years, so I can't imagine he's pissed away his money like a lot of fighters do.

Former heavyweight champ Roy Jones Jr. is the latest boxer to take a pounding from the IRS. After it was recently revealed that Floyd Mayweather Jr. was hit with a past due tax bill of nearly $3.4 million, former four division champion Roy Jones Jr. has been hit with an even bigger bill for $3.5 million dollars. Robert Snell of The Detroit News reports that the IRS filed a $629,085 lien against Jones on March 21 with the Santa Rosa County Clerk in Florida. Those taxes are owed from 2009, but there is also another lien, which was filed on February 11, 2008 for $2,946,650 in Santa Rosa County. That bill is for Jones' earnings in 2003 and 2004. Jones returns on May 22 in Moscow against dangerous cruiserweight Denis Lebedev.

    Thought so ;) Welcome back!

Actually maybe he's closer to Audley now than I thought. Both deluded men clinging onto past glories. Difference is, one of them actually used to go ham in a pro ring and the other is Audley Harrison

Eddie Hearn, if you're reading: Roy Jones vs Audley Harrison at Heavyweight. Loser retires match.

    And so does the winner

Tax bill doesn't mean he's fully broke though does it? He just needs to take a lil something something out his savings account...

I don't like to see it, and I'm telling myself I'm not going to tune into anymore of his fights. Just as I don't Evander Holyfields. I'll try and stick to that. Mostly because I'm just not that comfortable watching him lose time and time again in fights he has no business being involved in.

But, the man is in control of his own destiny. At the moment he's content to play Russian Roulette. Some men are like that.
