You don't think he dominated 168lbs division for the most part?

Would like to believe... but Jones's juicing could have been going on for years :deal and look at them now? one's the lineal 175lb champion defending his title while the other has had his chin smashed more times then Kim Kardashian has had her ass and still thinks he's going to pick up a CW strap :nut

its wrong to say that a minor title holder is dominant.

Will you atleast concede that he dominated once Ottke had retired?

I dont think Ottke comesinto it, Joe would thrash that loser. JC dominated once he beat Kessler, only from then.

Explanation - I am dismissive of Ottke only because he wasnt really a champion, only on paper did he have the titles that he lost on at least two occasions over. At best he had a run of only 4 defences before losing his belts, so he was a moderately successful but forgettable short term champion. By comparison Cal was a successful very long term minor title holder for almost all of his 10 years of defences.

You have any proof of that ? And Jones was dominating light heavies when Hopkins was dominating the Murad Hakkar's of the world . And many legends have had their chins smashed when they were long past their best !..Hopkins has his beat down coming on April 28th .. And hey like I said he will always be Hopkins Daddy :thumbsup

Proof of what? proof that Jones was juicing from well before the Hall fight? no I assume Richard Hall was the biggest challenge of Jones's career so Jones for that fight alone decided to get some help :nut

You want to bring up Hakkar then act like guys like Richard Frazier and Glen Kelley are ATG's :oops:

Roy Jones hasn't had his chin smashed, it's been obliterated to the point where anyone with a stiff jab could probably put him on ***** street :patsch

Hopkins could get sparked within 60 seconds and he'll still have surpassed RJJ :deal, guy is 47 and his talents should have expired long ago yet he fights on at an elite level showing what a great fighter he is. I myself have picked Dawson to win the rematch.

Excellent thread SJS19. When you look at the trouble some of Jones opponents caused others (Gonzalez beating DM, Woods winning a belt, even Hall giving DM a decent scrap) after being derided as bums after Jones toyed with them you can see part of Roy's opponent's woeful reputations came from being toyed with by an unbelievable talent in Jones. I remember reading a Sports Illustrated article after Roy beat Hopkins saying that Hopkins was nothing special. He turned out pretty good after Roy moved up, didn't he.

Hopkins made a career out of beating up smaller men.

Beating Pascal? In a close fight doesn't make him great.

Right and what did he take do you know ? Every article I read says no on knows and Hall took more of what Jones took yet no one knows what doubled his levels above Jones yet you know for certain :rofl

No but isn't Hopkins and who holds a win over them when they were closer to their primes ? Ok then ..

Right was this before his fight with Ruiz or after ? I always wondered where his career started ?

How could Hopkins surpass Jones ? With what wins over Oscar ad Tito ?

Or his win over Tarver who Jones beat already ? Now if its acting than hell yeah Jones is nowhere near the actor Hopkins is !

I didnt think anyone outside of Germany took Ottke's reign all too seriously, i honestly thought it had decended into a bit of a joke subject that people prefered to ignore. Ottke was a decent, above average boxer who had more than a little bit of a helping hand along the way to his deceptive looking 34-0 record. I look at it as a mute subject, he was nothing special and profited from having the right promoter and being in the right location, the Reid fight for example was bullshite, it was broadlight robbery and it prevented a more talented, better fighter from becoming a multiple time champion. Makes me sick to this day, Ottke what a joke he was.
