Dude, I know how great Jones is. People rate PBF on what he does now, even though he is above his optimum fighting weight. We both have different opinions and that's ok. I just feel like Mayweather will ultimately go down in history as being the better fighter, even though Roy was more gifted athletically. Floyd was always the smarter fighter, though, and that will take you much farther than athleticism.

Not true. My logic is this: Joe C. was able to beat Hopkins and Jones because of his high workrate. Even so, they both put Joe on the canvas and gave him troubles early. I'm 41 myself, and I can still do the things I used to do, just not as long(unless it's sex :hey). B-Hop and Jones would give most of the top contenders are 175 troubles, if not beat them. They are not shot.

Ok I agree that Jones had super amazing natural skills. I just cant help but think of him getting KTFO in back to back fights. Ok he was on the downside (true) but it s not like he was shot. Even though many greats have fought longer that they should have i dont recall any of the elite atg being knocked out like that back to back especially not much past their prime. Its not like he was knocked out by some atg.

The fact that hes been able to bounce back against comparable fighters that he was knocked out by, shows me he's not totally shot. Depression, lack of focus, or lack of confidence could have created some problems for Jones. He went from being on top of the world, winning the heavyweight title to getting knocked out badly by a smaller guy.
Jones was always under the gun by the fans because of his total dominance, but I think the loss finally brought him down to earth, and did a number on him mentally.

There is no similarity between Hopkins-Calzaghe and Jones-Calzaghe. Hopkins-Calzaghe was a pick 'em fight which could easily have gone either way. Jones-Calzaghe was a complete domination, an embarrassing beating. That's because Hopkins is only past-prime whereas Jones has been shot to **** for years.

Hang on didn't an ancient Hopkins hand a beating out to the guy who pole-axed Jones (as predicted etc...)?

Yep, I agree, the Great RJJ what a fighter.

I actually believe he could have knocked out much more opponents much more brutally than he has if he wasnt so worried about causing long term damage to them.

It happend to his best mate Mcclelan and since then i think he took his foot off the pedal in terms of hitting with bad intentions, except for one more fight..his rematch vs Griffin, in which he just showed what he was capable of when he was in a killer iller mood!

    Go Roy!

My list for most ability would be the same as my p4p list.

I cannnot see how it could be judged other wise, I disagree that flassyness equals ability.

Not to mention Jones beat Hill after DM had beaten Hill and he never fought DM.

I donßt by the hype around Jones. I think most people are so impressed by all his flashness, speed and showboating that they overlook his flaws and weaknesses. Yeah he was a great fighter but he was not what some people try to make out of him. Even in his prime he was beatable, he just was lucky that his era hadn´t the deepest talent pool.

Nobody said Hopkins was green but he was still not what he would became later on. There were still some litttngs missing. Even after winning the IBF title he wasn´t in his prime. Personally, I think he was at his best from around the Lipsey-Jackson fights until the Trinidad fight. After that he slipped until he adjusted his style again. There are three years between the Jones-Hopkins fight and Hopkins prime. Still a good win for Jones but not as good as some say.
