Indeed he is. Here's one of the quotes taken from him in one of his interviews(I saw it on Youtube):

"You see actually I do not teach Karate because I don't believe in styles anymore. I mean I do not believe there is such things as like Chinese way of fighting or a Japanese way of fighting or whatever way of fighting. Because unless human beings have 3 arms and 4 legs we will have a different way of fighting, but basically we have only 2 hands and 2 feet so style tends to not only separate man because they have their own doctrines then the doctrine became the gospel truth that you cannot change, y'know. But if you don't have style and if you just say, well here I am as a human being, how can I express myself totally and completely? That way you won't create a style because "style" is a crystallization, yknow. I mean that way its a process of continuing growth."

Its pretty cool, because you can see that Burce was unknowingly talking about MMA. So its pretty enlightening, and shows he was advanced both for his age and his time.
