More like a rock solid case if they are black letter lawyers. The specifications are very detailed to the point of being anal. When its so specific the usual interpretation will be that there is NO leeway at all. Its clear that Green has breached more than one clause in the regulations. On the other hand the extra padding wouldnt have saved Roy. He still goes down even if Green had complied with the regulations. I say NC or Green disqualification. I seriously don't know how the officials didnt just get Green to rewrap his hands. The only reason I can think of is incompetance. They don't know their own regulations. Reflects rather sadly on the officials at the fight. I suspect the delay is due to these same officials looking for a loophole to save face.
If it is a NC or DQ could get Green another huge payday verse Jones assuming Jones does not get smashed by Hopkins in the meantime.
Some interesting points there DK. ...and it actually reminded me just then of something I read in Green's book about the way he wrapped his hands for one of his previous fights - he was quite specific if I remember correctly - must get the book out and re-read that passage.
still going. Green has a guy builkding a defence for him and has been interviewing other trainers to get there opinions. 3 officals OKed it on the night seems like they might be in a little trouble should it go against them. But as has been said if it wasn't right why didn't they make him re wrap. The covering there arse might be the problem with the delay
Seem to remember Green referring to the way someone had wrapped his hands for a previous fight as This content is protected . He made quite a deal of it, if I remember correctly. Had a scan through Green's book, which I read when it first came out, but couldn't find it. Perhaps it was in the doco he did. Will have to look for it and re-watch.
Was it in the doco Leon? ...just seem to remember him saying 'look at how my hands are wrapped, real nasty!' Wherever it was documented, I remember thinking at the time it's a bit unusual, and equally unusual to make a comment about it.
I think it was in the Fox special, not the Fight Game. From memory the guy who supervised the wrappings made comment about it. comparing them to bricks, the explanation being they were just done perfectly on the night.
