How could you possibly use the Ruiz fight which was basically a glorified sparring session as a gauge for anything? Tarver is 2-1 against Jones some people say 3-0.

not the ruiz fight itself but the performances. his performance against woods was still a brilliant jones, against tarver, quality of opponent aside, far less so. again just an opinion but i saw a differentn fighter

you don't think it has to do with Tarver being a much much better fighter than Woods?

oh of course, there is no denying it. BUT do you really think the jones of 1999 would have struggled so mightily with tarver? i don't believe so for a second

Fair enough Tarver > Woods, but Roy was physically drained. Say what you like, but Roy never carried much body fat, and after therefore losing pure muscle to make 175 for Tarver after being 199 for Ruiz was ridiculous. Because of this we saw his determination and desire he had to win in the last few rounds, where he took over the fight and won, which was close up to round 9/10.

I think Roy misses being in the spotlight. Sure, he was last week, but for the wrong reasons. I think thats why he's continuing to fight, he just wants to be at the top again. Sadly, he just can't do it being 40. He relied on reflexes quite a lot; not that it's a bad thing, if he had them lightning quick reflexes then why wouldn't he use them? But he's been at a point for quite some time now, where his reflexes can't get him out of situations, and he has to rely on his basics. But of course, throughout his awesome career, he didn't use basics, so it's not gonna just turn up when someone applys pressure to 40 year old RJ.

I love RJ to bits, I'd love to see him fight B-Hop, especially how Hopkins doesn't have the power of Green, therefore I think RJ v BHop II would be closer than Jones v Green. But, sadly it's gotta be time to go. He should have retired after Tarver I or Ruiz. He had nothing to prove.
